It's clean. That's the fun in it. It's clean both by borders and by cultures. Also given that northern Italy was a client state under Napoleon, it's not that much of a stretch to have a "larger Napoleonic Italy" or something of that sort.

There will be own mechanisms for client states in the Napoleonic era, yet not talked about, if I remember correctly (and understood it correctly). A completely different era then the 14, 15, 16 and for the most part 1700's.

So let me get this straight. You cannot annex a march, but you cannot make huge marches (60 base tax is like seven provinces in Europe) either.

Do they still take up diplo slots?

Wait, does that mean you can't create a march when they already have 60 base tax, or that you can't feed them above 60 base tax after they're already a march?

Wait, does that mean you can't create a march when they already have 60 base tax, or that you can't feed them above 60 base tax after they're already a march?

Presumably both would be the intent although with vassal feeding cores the latter could be problematic to enforce. As for the limit being too low for a single cultural vassal-march, how many cultures are there that are over 60 base tax? I can think of maybe a half dozen at the game start so that isn't a big deal IMO.

Um, I should probably point out that marches aren't the only new kind of vassal in this expansion. According to the expansion notes, there is also going a new kind of nation called "Client States", which stuff like Napoleonic Italy and such will likely be covered under. This is also to come with various improvements to the Napoleonic wars, but we have heard hide nor hair of those yet, so I'd imagine that we're still a ways off from hearing about that stuff.

If I have more than 7 cardinals, will others than get it or will it just be unused? I understand that you have to limit papal influence when you can buy money, prestige and legitimacy with it. But couldn't we have something like "every cardinal beyond 7 gives a small bonus to the becoming-papal-controller-thing"? Would be not realistic to have a giant empire stretching all of Europe and still you aren't Papal controller for long time. Catholicism seems to become a religion that is good for small (for source of non-scaling money and prestige) and medium-sized (for perfect situation to go on hunt for PC since you have no unnecessary cardinals) while big countries at some points don't get much out of it. (I don't need money or prestige as a Super-France.)

You can get stability, as well. 80 Papal influence for +1 stab. I am thinking this is going to be a huge boon for Republics due to their much higher stab costs in comparison to Monarchies.

So, the rebels stack up once the provinces trigger, correct? How's that any different from having one singular megastack triggering in a single province? This seems a bit wrong, to have rebellions in such a centralized fashion.

Edit: If I heard right on the feature highlight video.

Jesus rollerblading Christ, this expansion will be so glorious.

I love the new map and all these new options.

Mesoamerica and South America went from 4 nations and one joke into, if I remember correctly, THIRTY SEVEN nations

West Africa has like 3x more countries

Epic land connections between West Africa, East Africa and Tripoli while deleting idiotic Spanish colonization in Mauretania will improve Africa soo much

New countries in the Eastern Africa (was it Makuria south from Mamluks?)

A lot of new provinces in Persia and India, finally expanded Caucasus

Greatly improved South-East Asia with many new provinces, division of Indonesia

A lot of new provinces in China and Korea, Manchu Hordes, new mechanisms

And my biggest shock: SIBERIAN NATONS. I am not talking about Mongol Hordes but about Kamchatka (!) and few other nations in Eastern Siberia (!!). Not sure if it is 100% realistic they are organised states but it is surely awesome.

Also, garrisons can now SORTIE. Devs didn't say anything about that, but we have seen 'sortie' garrison button and it is enough for me to be excited - so many new tactical options... And finally the ability to get rid of pointless 1 - 2k 'sieges'.

Personally I also love changes to the Rebels system - I am 'fan' of rebels as they introduce a lot of fascinating dynamism to the game, and in AOW they will be reorganised, more interesting and stronger...

Now when I love new map, there is one area I would like to see - Central and South Africa. I am pretty sure areas of Kongo, Lake Victoria and Mutapa could be improved.

It is great to see France’s huge Languedoc split in two provinces. If the Devs rework Gascogne & Poitou to reintroduce Saintonge, it would make AoW the greatest expansion ever of the EU saga :
