Nope. Once you're a monarchy, you're stuck with it.
If you don't like it, go for Imperum.
If you don't like it, go for Imperum.
If more than 50% of your provinces is occupied by rebels (black/red banner) you have a 25% chance you change into a republic and your monarch gets executed. In the 2.31c beta patch (latest) the chance is 100%.
For clarification of the banners:
Rebels: Red/Black (anarchist colours)
Barbarians: Black with white bovine skull
Civil war rebels: your own flag with inverted colours.
I was referring to the Red/Black rebels in my previous post.
