Well, it would have been a nice addition. Sure, monarchs in the Victorian era didn't have anymore the power they had in the CK/EU era, but still they could have some influence. And obviously I'm not talking about Russia, where monarchs had still great powers. Having a personalized monarch with name and traits would have been fun.

Personally, I think he has a point here, but just a name (and nothing else) wouldn't be too much trouble, would it? It would already make a great deal of difference for immersion.

Actually, I think it would be a fair bit of (pointless) trouble to have to go through every country during the Victoria period and come up with a name for every potential head of state for every political faction at every possible time, if it's going to end up being nothing more than a name on the screen with no gameplay effects.

I'd rather have the developers use their resources on refining gameplay than on purely aesthetic details. After all, we're talking about more than just a list of real historical heads of state a'la EU, we're talking about lists of ALL political leaders for ALL countries for a 100-year time period. That's not something you're going to whip up during a lunch break.

Well, I'd say because everything is supposed to be "plausible alternate history", simply a list of first names and a list of surnames, and then a simple randomizing function, would suffice. That would already make a great deal of difference!

But by no means should the player's play style, in her role as spirit of the nation, be constrained by a subjective opinion of political leadership quality.

I think it's a good idea, just copy the EU3 system and get a random name generator. It's really no trouble at all.
