I assume we will have monarchs/presidents in the game like in EU3 (mostly for flavor)? Can we have character tabs for the politics section with a selection of details about the key individual? I'm not saying simulate everyone but just the government ministers, great men of the court and important scientific/rebel/business leaders? Super rich capitalists, troublesome journalists, scientists, military types, revolutionary communist leaders, unionists, pretender nobles etc

Name - ie. Queen Victoria II of Spain, King Otto III of Sweden, Duchess Caroline IV of Bohemia, President Adam Jackson of the CSA
Age - self explanatory
Spouse
Father - clicking this takes to their tab (even if he is in a foreign country)
Mother - clicking on her name take you to her tab (even if she is in a foreign country)
Dynasty - ie. House of Brandenburg, House of Hannover?
Titles - Queen of England, King of Spain, Grand-Duke of Savoy, Pope, Tsar of Russia, Count of Novgorod
Job - Prime Minister, Communist Party Leader, Admiral of 2nd Fleet, Monarch, Journalist, Scientist, Explorer, Colonial
Traits - stubborn (-1 diplomatic efficiency), colonial (bonus to colonial growth), patron of the arts (more prestige, greater militancy for communists), secret liberal (bonus to liberal parties at elections if conservatives are in power)

just a few ideas which is what I do. feel free to pick them apart and comment. :p I was a huge fan of the original but stopped playing because it lacked these essential design elements which rewarded players for taking it slow and running the game at the fastest speed rushing to get to the next tech level. it also rewards patience playing smaller nations which would not likely expand beyond the one or two provinces they start with.

oh and also if you get annexed peacefully can there be an option to keep playing? ie. in terms of unification.

I'd be happy with just a random name popping up (with potential for historical names) in an event of sorts saying "The King/Queen has passed on, we will mourn their passing. King/Queen ____ shall ascend the throne in their place."

Something akin to EU3, but with less details and focus. Maybe a small militancy or consciousness boost, in Vicky 1 terms. Nothing like the same mechanics of EUIII even though some of the same things could have probably have happened.

They need to have something like this in EU3 before Victoria 2. :eek:o

This is what Johan said about this in another thread:

No.

We will not have named HoS in the game. Thats not what victoria is about.

Personally, I think he has a point here, but just a name (and nothing else) wouldn't be too much trouble, would it? It would already make a great deal of difference for immersion.

I really wish that they would add named heads of state. Hopefully that is something they shall rethink in the expansion.

But who would be the head of state in a communist Texas?

The Powers That Be have made it clear that monarchs will NOT be in V2. Quite rightly too in my opinion.

Ok. I suppose they will keep 'ruling parties' however... Now they also talk about a 'two house' parliamentary system as well. Anyway I guess parties and such will be moddable so that i can go in and make my own party mod naming freely e.g. "King Tormod's Party" or "Imperial Texas Front".

Yeah. Like the "Comunion Carlista" in VIP that existed in both Spain and Carlist Spain.

im going to quote what i said somewhere else, last post of the politics megathread

"Politicians like Generals, randomly generated but also the Historicals in there as well in the same way as both were in Victoria, with start and end dates but all the randoms there fill the gaps and allow for any possibility. Maybe even from the same leadership points as Generals come from. Which are attached to a political party, and maybe you cant choose which party their for, and strengthen or possibly weaken that party based on their traits."

something like that only better and with actual thought put into it, but small and simple to show politicians and monarchs have an effect but not one that would really change much would do the trick.
