Monarch VP Scoring

OK... why do all my "monarchs" throughout my nation's history have negatives in their VP column in the 'notebook' section?

Some are as high as -2000 or more. Yet I have done a great job of expanding and empowering my nation during each of their reigns.

What affects a Monarch's VP score...?

And why does this VP score for monarchs not show up in the scoring shown when exiting a game?

What is one thing that I have often wondered. Perhaps it has something to do with how they did historically.

Noticed that little tidbit me own self last night. I'm a-hoping that someone knows the answer to this one, I am. Maybe it's a dash instead of a minus sign. Eh?
