Monarch/leader files

Whenever I make a monarch/leader file from scratch, it doesn't work. It's not because I'm misnaming the files, and I'm typing in the lists correctly. Just when I start a game up with the new files, it gives some odd error message. The game works, but I don't get the leaders/monarchs.

Anybody know why?

What about IDs? If they're not unique, the new leaders/monarchs won't show up.

In addition to Ids - have you made sure you are not saving e.g. 'monarchs.xxx' as 'monarchs.xxx.txt'? Notepad/Wordpad have a nasty tendency to insert that .txt at the end...

(but then you shouldn't get error messages at startup... hm... I guess it's the IDs.)

What error messages do you get?

Seriously now. You said : "from scratch". I think that means :
totaly new and that new file seems not to exist, is not "included" in your game. Judas, did you INCLUDE that file in the DB ?

If yes, check your Ids.

If the file is properly named it will be included...

All files named leaders.<tag> and monarchs.<tag> are included by default if they are in the correct folder

The file is properly named, and I made sure the ID's were unique.

Oh, Predator, you're thinking of Judas Iscariot. Easy mistake.

The error messages... it picks line 3, and says there's an error. Despite the fact that the third line is perfectly fine. I delete the monarch/leader that contains that line... then says the next one's line 3 is incorrect. I don't get it.

For example, I type "monarch.U01" (with the quotes, by the way) in when I save it... it comes up with the right name. All the monarch IDs are unique. Everythings formatted correctly. I've dotted every i, crossed every t, and made sure all the brackets were there.

Hm... That one looks ok to me. You got error on the first line(s) of this file? What does the error say is wrong?

Could be a problem right before the monarchs are read...

That's what the error message is...

Same error message, except replace 'id = 15000' with 'id = 15001' if you get rid of the first monarch...
