Great Britain declaring war on England

Great Britain declaring war on England

Yeah, in my first game they coexisted. Have no idea how this happened but Great Britain was all of the island of England. And "England" had one colony in North America (surrounded by colonies/towns of Great Britain) as will as some provinces in Africa and the Carribean.

I would like to add Brunei sending a fleet to the Adriatic to blockade my Bavarian port of Fruili because I was taking their provinces on Borneo. If I had tried to send a fleet straight to Brunei (and not stopping along the way for supplies) it would never make it there.

I, as Ming, inheriting first Japan in the first year of the game and later Viryanagar (sp?), after Viryanagar hat united most of India. That was just plain silly. Or that one time my brave Englishmen explored the North American coast in the early 1460s, only to discover french colonies. That was before I realized that EU3 was not supposed to follow historical patterns concerning colonization (first bigger non-iberian colonies in the 1600s and so on).
It is spelled Vijayanagar.

As England, I had my eyes pointed towards North America for a while, trying to grab as much land as possible, especially by fighting the evil Frenchmen.
I managed to annex the Iroquois nation.

Some years later, France got a terrible stability hit (-3) generating a lot of unrest, especially in the colonies (with a little help from my spies hehe).

2 of The French/catholic colonies revolted and I expected them to swear allegiance to the English Crown...

....but instead, they choose to form a new Pagan/Iroquois nation

So come on ! don't lie. Or you just have modified the game so it could work.
So there's no "what" for this...

Don't doubt it too soon. The AI breaks all rules, apparently, and it's entirely possible that for some god-awful reason the AI is able to make RM offers even when not of the same religion. I mean, AI Native American nations are supposed to be hard-coded not to be able to have ships over strength 2, and yet I swear to god that I see full strength Native American boats frequently enough to actually notice.

Having to fight battles in my ally's territory (Bradenburg) to protect my cores against the Ottomans who I (Mecklenburg) was fighting to protect my other Ally's (France) territory.

France only came into the war due to their alliance with Portugal who only came into the war due to their inheritance of Serbia (I think. It all got complicated). Brandenburg had given Ottomans Military access even after the start of the war (brandenburg had not been asked to fight in the war).

You gotta love complicated alliances. Especially when they lead to long and pointless wars just when you want to invade denmark.

Sounds like World War 1 to me. Utterly pointless and hopelessly complicated. :D

...aragon and castille, early 17th century
castille kind of falls apart, several provinces run to aragon

only madrid is left on iberia, and it falls to rebels...

after 20 years i read sth like this:

aragon went with "no good can come from this" in spanish unification

they could have ended that terrible patchwork gone mad and become a world power....and they decline

A moment that made me go 'what!?' was while I was playing a game as Prussia, roughly 1740 (started as Frederick II the Great)..

I befriended and allied myself with Mecklenburg and Bavaria and quickly turned them both into my vassals. I tried to stay out of most of the affairs of my direct neighbours, in the event I 'might' have to go to war with them.. I did however, conclude a Royal Marriage contract with Ansbach, a tiny little one province state I happened to like for no particular reason..

Time passes, not much happens other than me building up a military force to prepare for the invasion of Saxony, when all of a sudden the king of Ansbach dies and I get a message that I'm in the War of Ansbachian Succession with Bavaria AND Mecklenburg!

My stability level instantly dropped from +2 to -3, my reputation was completely shot to hell and my prestige level fell a considerable distance..

I'm afraid I couldn't resist and simply had to reload the last autosave to get me out of that mess.. The king of Ansbach still died, but fortunately nothing happened.. :D

A few from my current game:

- Through fortunate marriages and war, the Swahili empire has managed to spread from southeast Africa to encompass Tripoli, Nubia, Ethiopia, most of Somalia and one province in Arabia — Mecca.

- A militaristic and strong Sibirian state has managed to push as far as Muscovy to the northwest, Georgia to the southwest and Argyn (Khazak) in the southeast.

- Algiers inherited the Ottoman Empire and then managed to lose most of their Anatolian and other eastern provinces to a now massive Mamluk empire.

- The Teutonic Order has thriving colonies in New England and on Manhattan island.

- A succession of minor Greek Orthodox princes (with a few blips when the kings of France, Castille, and Munster - the Irish variety) elected Holy Roman Emperor over the course of hundreds of years. The preferred emperors hailed from Cyprus, Naxos and Crete.

Yes. Especially as I was then left as the only person fighting the war. Not nice when a largeOttoman Empire + allies turn their attention soley on you.

I was pushed back up the Danish peninsula and then managed to scrape it back with mercenaries.

They are islands, thus they can't have a "boundary dispute" on a neighbour province (or become core of another country because of that event), so war involving them are extremely rare and they manage to keep good relations with HRE electors, while all other european countries wage war against each other (most probably because of the boundary dispute) and hate each other. ;)

My last game had a massive Swahili Empire as well - they'd conquered everywhere from Sofala up to the borders of Egypt. Then, with their stability already low, they inherited Mali, which owned all of West Africa. Everywhere revolted, and Portugal, the Ottomans, the Mamelukes and Yemen all declared war on them. Their one ally, Kanem Bornu, stabbed them in the back. Within a few years, they were back to their original territory. Never marry.

Holy Roman Emperor is a tricky thing, I was elected as king of France. Later I got in a personnal union with Castille as the minor one.

First thing that made me go "what!!" was that I was still emperor even though my ruler was Juan III.

Second time is when I realised that I had a king indeed, Louis XI, that he was Holy Roman Emperor but that my country was still in a personnal union with Castille and still as the minor.

That was really a great WHAT!!!!

the title stays with the king of france.
juan is the king of spain and the king of france, thus the reichsverweser of the HRE until a new emperor is elected.
so juan usurped the title of HRE when he was crowned king of france.

i think historically the title was bound to the person rather than the title, so maybe it should lead to a new election or maybe an interregnum.

however it is not as weird as it may seem to me.

This makes me constantly go "what?" in my current game:

Burgundy is running through Austria to ransack my provinces even if they don't have military access through Austria. This has happened with other countries too. Seems like every country that I'm at war with can just walk into the same countries I have military access to. If somebody knows what's going on or if it's just a bug I'd be happy to know. Annoying.
