Apparently the famous Spice Islands were some kind of Holy Grail to the Portuguese explorers and merchants in the 16th Century. It's quite fascinating to learn that the Portuguese and the Dutch fought for the control of those tiny remote islands, 20.000km away from Europe. What's even more mysterious is that around 1500AD these islands were producing spices of worldly reputation even though the area is not colonized :laugh: . I suppose this is meant to let some room for the big time colonizers/traders. I'd pay for a DLC about Indonesia, with the events following the Portuguese conquest of Malacca and the Mollucas.
