You need Granada to colonize Cape Verde, it was my goal to get a secure 2nd province ASAP, Granada gave me a way to get one. I wish I could make selling provinces do that much...

That sums it up for now...yearly income is now 60 ducats!
Luck that is all. Just luck. How in the world are you lucky enough to have a colony of an enemy just sitting there. Lucky that is all.

SPL, I've noticed you have no cavalry. I think it's strange for a game where there are a lot of hit-and-run tactics. Your enemies in Africa have no forts in their provinces, and you would want to have your troops occupy territory and move quicker than the enemy.
