Hello guys!

I've wanted to try to play a campaign as Moldavia which as many are aware starts as a March under Poland(-Lithaunia). Since you can no longer be annexed as a march and you won't get eaten in the first 10 years by a certain evil Kebab blob, I thought it would be the easier choice of the Romanian countries.
I hoped that fabricating claims on Hungary and the Otto's it would lead to Poland to DOW them (altleast HUN) and give me my claims... That didn't happen :(*played until 1490, Iron Man,* So my question to you guys is, how can you make Poland do your dirty work? And if you can't is it then better to play as Wallachia and be in constant fear of the Turks?

Thanks in advance :)

I haven't tried the start yet, but I would look into fabricating claims on Hungary and see if the Teutonic order takes Hungary as an ally. That way when Poland goes for Danzig, you can help smash the armies and then siege down Hungary like crazy to make Poland force a separate peace with them and hopefully give you your claims. You'd also be looking for potential allies to support your independence like Muscovy and if you're lucky, Austria.

Another strategy might be to wait for Poland to declare on Teutons and not help them, hope they get beat up a bit and barely make out with Danzig and Denmark or Pomerania takes the rest. Poland will get into a losing war eventually in either situation to try and get those Prussian provinces, at that point you can make your move.

I played about 15 years or so of a Moldavia start; I fabricated claims on Hungary, Poland declared on Teutons, Hungary joined against us, and I sieged down the stuff I claimed. When Hungary peaced out, I was given the claims. Seems fairly easy to me, but that's just at a glance honestly.

I managed to get Bohemia, Denmark, Hungary and Muscovy to support my independence, declared war, no one joined, ragequitted.

I either saw that post on reddit, or you're not alone.

You either do that repeatedly (boring, also luck based) or you hope that Bohemia rivals Poland and Hungary doesn't ally the Teutons. Then pull Hungary, Bohemia in your war of independence and hopefully catch Poland with its pants down while fighting the orders and their allies. Peace out with the highest war score possible, but don't drag the war on. After independence you're basically Wallachia - bide your time and hit the weakest neighbor.

In my game Poland did not rival the Hungarians but the Ottos, Teutons and Moscow. Thats why Hungary didn't ally with the Teutonic Order. I can get others to support my independence but i wanted to take advantage of the Polish armies before stabbing them in the back. Anyway, thanks for the reactions guys! I'll try it again tonight and hope that Poland rivals the Hungarians ^^
