I got the game when it was on steam sale about two weeks ago, and I am really enjoying it.
I've been experimenting a bit with creating intersection assets for modular building and am currently constructing a city grid based on only two different intersection assets.

EDIT: I published two saves of the completed grid on the workshop. One called Fractal Grid, the other Fractal Grid with subways

Here's a few pics:
Overview:
as you can see, the left half is where I've been connecting the dots.

Here's the left side somewhat closer up, and the underground view:

Here's a close up of my passenger terminal asset. I'm quite proud I managed to squeeze 4 stations like that, within the constraints of the 62x62 playing field of the asset editor.

I'll try post some more pics once it's done, and some more when it's populated.

Wow. Look at the range for a single garbage dump. My grid seems to work even better than intended for connectivity. Almost done with the left side now. All highway connections are done.

Yay. The traffic grid is all done. It has separated lines for cargo and passenger trains, that don't touch, and split off from the mains right at map entrance, and features a gazillion highway entrances.
I placed all the cargo train depots, but not the passenger stations. Those I can build on the go, as I start zoning, since the passenger grid connects just fine without the stations in place.

Now all that's left to do is lay down a subway grid, if I can manage to squeeze that aestetchically pleasing enough in between all existing tunnels, before I can start zoning it.
I'll put a save up on the workshop before I start zoning if anyone is pleased by ready-to-zone fractal grids. You can find the two intersection assets I used for this there already. One is called Modular Highway Junction v2, the other one Modular Station Section v2

EDIT: subways done
