Hello,
I want to download the Black ice mod for HOI III, but i don't know if i need to have the finest hour expansion.
Could somebody explain this to me?
If the answer is yes, are there mods for the normal HOI III?

Greets,
Rick

Each expansion requires all of the previous ones, so if you want FTH, you have to install both SF and FtM first. Personally, I probably enjoyed the SF expansion the most, but it's hard to give up the "bells and whistles" in FtM and TFH after using them, even if the original game mechanics have been neutered to some degree.

Most of the popular mods have earlier versions that work with each of the expansions, but I don't believe that BlackICE is one of those.

As an alternative, you can play the Dis Irae Gotterdammerung mod without TFH (actually doesn't work with TFH at all as far as I know). It's a very good mod but you can only play as Germany...and you have to buy it but it's only 99 cents on steam. It works for both SF and FTM (although you need to download a patch to play it with FTM but you should be able to find that with a quick internet search).

Having said that though, in my opinion, Black Ice is well worth the purchase of TFH. Plus there are several other very good mods to play as well so go ahead and upgrade. (But if you do upgrade after buying the Dis Irae mod, make sure to make a copy of your SF/FTM version in aother place on your PC so you can play that mod again later if you want.)
