Are their specific Mods that tend to be the most popular for gameplay? I am currently using the Black Ice Mod. Is this the most historically accurate Mod for timeline, events, equipment/technologies? Is there a combination of mods that make for the best historical mod?

No Man's Land. A must to keep the AI out of the deep African desert. I also use Expert AI
I use No Mans Land. In my opinion, anyone considering mods should use this one unless it conflicts with others that you wish to try.
Some others are good for a game or two for sake of variety. I find Ragnarok '39 to be one of those.
The Great War might have been much better if they had not been so generous with resources. As it stands, the Central Powers never face shortages so the concept of a blockade to deny them imports becomes completely moot.

Strategic view adjustments, More theater icons, More division icons are 3 utility mods that are ironman compatible and very useful.
Enhanced peace conference AI, to fix the issues in the peace conference. PDS incorporated an earlier version of this mod in 1.2, they need to incorporate the latest version in 1.4
The Fox and the Lion, Vanilla +, and Expert AI 2.0 are 3 non-compatible mods that all work to fix ai and balance issues and add tons of content. Unfortunately they are all incompatible with each other, my birthday wish would be for these mods to collaborate.
And finally, No Man's Land. DO NOT PLAY WITHOUT IT!

Cool guys. I hope to hear from more you HOI IV players. Like I said I am using Black Ice for 1.3.3. I like it so far. Doesn't look like No Man's land is compatible with 1.3.3. and it also looks like because of the extensive re-doing of the AI in Expert AI it is not compatible with Black Ice?
Black ICE, which I personally do not care for, is a total conversion mod. As such, it is generally not compatible with any mods which were not specifically designed to accompany it other than visual only mods which do not alter the checksum.
Dalwin, Got it. I just tried expert AI and it crashed the game so I disabled it as I have Black Ice enabled. Haven't tried no man's land.
Despite having the game for a few months now I have not played it all that much. Any specific reason you don't care for Black Ice? Maybe the mods you guys suggested are better for game play and more historical??

Hmm. Interesting. I think their was some new music uploaded recently German March music. I don't know what's good and what isn't.
*** Also, in Black Ice your infantry/armour etc. show they need support units. ie. xx division requires 150 support but there is no option to build support units in the game. I think they are broken down into radio equipment, HQ equipment and staff etc. The vanilla game does not recognize these so I guess I should just ignore the support needs??
I know I hold the minority opinion on this issue, but I have always felt that Black ICE confuses surface clutter with actual strategic depth. I do not feel that the complexity that it adds is of the type that actually makes the game more enjoyable.
It does, however, do a lot to improve immersion. That is important to many players and in my opinion explains the popularity of the mod.
I run No Man's Land, Road to '56, Strategic View Adjustments, and some various sprite/graphical mods such as Unique Infantry Equipment and Icons for Planes.
I only use graphic mod such as Historical flag, more division, German Equipment, etc. I don't like to change the game mechanic and balance
