I've had a bug in the CK2 launcher forever, and it's finally gotten on my nerves enough to look into it. To put it simply: most mods will not stay selected in the launcher once the game is started then shut down. Once you load the launcher again, the mods will be unselected - still listed, of course, but unchecked again. Most, but some will remain.

What is the cause of this and how can I fix it?

In the *.mod file, the name of the mod name in "path=" needs to have no spaces, just like the mod folder and the *.mod file as well.

example mod folder:

CKII_UI_Font_Mod

example in the code of the modname.mod (here: CKII_UI_Font_Mod.mod) file:

Code:
name = "CKII UI Font Mod"
path = "mod/CKII_UI_Font_Mod"

So if there are spaces, connect the words or letters somehow. In this example it was done by the "_".

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of editing the .mod files.

Most of my mods didn't have the path parameter, instead they had the archive parameter. I replaced all the spaces with _ and did the same for the actual zip files. Worked perfect, the launcher now remembers my mods.

I guess your mod is a workshop mod only ?
Or better asked, what's the difference between 'archive' and 'path' again ?

Anyway, good that it works now.
