Modify XenForo forum software to accept Paradox files?

• Suggestion: Make it oh-so-easy to provide feedback in order to improve Paradox games. Allow players to upload saved games.

I'd like to use the forum's "Upload a file" feature to upload saved games in order to provide the developers with feedback.

Certain extensions (.hoi4) are not accepted within the forums "upload a file" feature.

Here's XenForo's view on the topic:

"XenForo is configurable to allow other file extensions. Your forum administrator can configure this. Jake Bunce XenForo Support "

There are probably many aspects regarding files with .hoi4 extensions that are beyond the control of Paradox. For example, could it be a file size issue? I don't know. Probably some obstacle of some sort.

The endstate is that will be roll-off-the-log easy for customers to provide feedback (in this case, saved game files) to Paradox.

A workaround is to just rename the file to .txt.
Though I agree that it's a good suggestion.

Also size wise it should be fine as you can upload 1 GB of stuff to your account; though uploading files which are 100+ MB (e.g. late game CKII saves) might not be something it likes; haven't tried, so don't know. But in principle it should be possible.

Don't force us to use shenanigans such as "rename the file".

In the case of save games they should be zipped up first in any case, and .zip is an allowed extension.

Just wondering, what are the advantages of a .zip file vs a .hoi4 file?

The .hoi4 file is easier to work with from a customer point of view.

But there are likely advantages to using a .zip file.

Just wondering what they are.

Not all save games are written as compressed. Having them all as .zip files saves server space.

I agree and in all honesty it was an error from my side. I thought I had added the .hoi4 to the allowed files list alas I had not though I've rectified it now.

Although it's something that was supposed to be okay for hosting mods, 130+ Mo archives still won't upload... fails when reaching about 15%... tested it again in the M&T subforum just now.

Hey, FYI this may not be entirely fixed, or seems to be buggy.

I have tried a few times to upload saved HOI4 games to multiplayer groups on the forum for discussion. For example to this group -

But sometimes it won't seem to let me upload .HOI4 files, and so I have to rename the file to .HOI4.EU4 in order to upload it. Then the person downloading it has to delete the .EU4 that I added to the extension, and only then can use the file.

Just double checked and hoi4 is definitely on the allowed extension list. Not sure what could be happening with your file.
