Are you going to mod in the lovely revolutions that are ongoing into the the 2011 timeframe? :D Or hold off until they're over?

yes, I will include Arab revolutions. the story in my mind is pro-islamic revolutions in these countries which will fight against Israel and USA. Of course, US will have a chance to stop those revolutions, if necessary by force:)

This mod sounds great, i've always thought a modern day setting would be a lot of fun for HOI. I'll definitely be keeping up on it, but i have a few questions.

Do you have a story planed out? Despite the hard work the MDS team put into the mod, i couldn't agree with the politicaly based story line where it seemed as if the US was the de facto 'bad guy'. I think it would be much more immersive if everything was taken for a neutral point of view instead of bringing current politics 'was country A invading country B right or wrong?' into the equation. I think looking at the situation from the perspective of the player-nation instead of the developer's point of view would be a much better approach.

How will game balance playout? In MDS the EU and US had an extreme advantage in terms of economic ability, and despite using a 'other place' friendly PPP measure, it was still very one-sided in terms of battle. Russia would often be utterly over-run quickly by the EU who was 12 times bigger, and i felt that really hurt the games 'struggle factor' it would be historically accurate to give the EU and US a GDP of 30 trillion, and the SCO a GDP of 6 trillion- but thats not very fun when the AI is utterly overwhelmed.

I think a way to fix this, would be to expand SCO membership and perhaps cause a recession to hit NATO. The price of oil could also keep going up, leading SCO to alien itself with a middle eastern alliance, this might lead to cheap oil for SCO-boosting it's econamy while further empowering opfor. This would not only create a 2nd front for the EU based NATO members, but empower Russia to become a major player and not the 'weak link' it became in MDS.

I am planning to make military production very expensive and long. So, countries which already have large armies will have advantage. Russia have quite a big army and EU will have severe manpower problems.

I have a storyline in my mind but didn't begin to write it. I am porting MDS into Iron Cross for now.

I need help in everything, any help you wish to give would be appreciated.

ok guys, I am done with national ideas. Probably, further tweaks on modifier values will be required, but I will leave this to BETA process.

Now, I will introduce a house rule for placing airfields on the map. I want to make nuclear war an option for the player. It should be possible to make surprise attack on the enemy nuclear silos and win the nuclear war. Furthermore, Nuclear war will be more meaningful in Iron Cross because there are so many provinces, even if you are hit by 10 nukes you won't be hurt so much.

The House rule is that I will place 8 (or may be less?) airbases for the strongest nations. No more. This way, you can minimise the damage you will take with nuclear weapons if you carefully execute preliminary attack on enemy airfields.

So, I want to know the most important airfields in your country, the top 8 of them ( 4 for mid-powerful countries, 2 for relatively large minors, 1 for small countries). Thanks!

Ok, the location of 7 or 8 important airbases are needed.

Well, location is known but I don't know how much "important" they are. It's a secret information on which and how many aircraft are based in each base, you know.

I chose 12, so that they're distributed evenly across the country.
Russia's pretty large, you know.

These are Barnaul, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Ryazan, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Engels, Chkalovsk and Yaroslavl.

They are all pretty the same in size so it's up to you to choose.

In my opinion, it's too few to have only 8 airbases for large countries like Russia, the US or China in IC.
