has anyone else out there heard or played the game shadow president or its sequal cyber judas

the game is a modern world europa universalis basically. its interface is fairly simple but the game is unfortunately too simple and simplistic. and you can only play usa. the map represents every country of the modern world. has an extensive data base of information and info changes with your actions. diplomacy, war , economy etc etc is included but fairly weak hence the game was an awesome idea but fell short of its goal.

That is my dream game, a game that includes the option to play any country, whether it be modern or ancient. has an easy yet extensive interface for the many options of running a country (simulation) throw some history or real figures in there, some modern computer technology to add good music, decent graphics but not too bad that it slows the game down.

a good game in my opinion is fairly simple so that you dont need a nasa super computer to run it. however is balanced enough and enjoyable enough to keep you playing.

are ya all catching my idea here. do you know the game i speak of and my hope to see a similar game in the future that adds the historical or modern strategy simulation we crave and adds all those (europa universalis) type options, warfare, economic etc etc to run your country and have fun doing it.

try downloading cyber judas or shadow president from underdog, you will see what i mean and the potential of such a game is awesome, sorta like if you combine europa universalis and shadow president (maybe some of civilization) and you have the best strategy simulation ever.

what do you think? (if you know what im talking about) :)

I fortunately own CyberJudas and played Shadow President a while ago at a friend's.

Yes, I, too would have liked to play as Germany, or Russia, or China. The including of the CIA world fact book should have made it fairly easy. What I didn't like about the game was that internal affairs were boilt down to managing the budget (no lobbyists there). I also didn't like that there were hardly any random events between other countries. Most things happening in the first months were the same over and over again.

I'd like to see that game re-done with some good scenarios (like Shadow President had), and some better game mechanisms. EU could be a great pattern for this, however, today's relationships (esp. economically) are far more complicated than in the era of EU.

yeah, so you have seen what im talking about. the potential for such a game is incredible. yes it would be intricate and probably hard to develope because modern politics and stuff is lots more complicated than in eu days. i just hope one of those awesome european or japanese developers catch on the idea and make something awesome like that. imagine a game similar to eu, but in modern world, ability to play any country. have all sorts of diplomatic and other options. the management and strategy of each country would be so interesting and the educational value could be enourmous.

paradox are you listening?

Shadow President....great game. Chief gripe was that once the whole world was one, big, happy, green, ethically 'righteous' democratic family, with the U.S. as its midwife (lowered military spending to a bare minimum and withdrew troops from everywhere, eventually...Europeans on the board, hope that my dreams of success in American politics come true? ;) ) nothing happened except for the bottom being pulled out from the world's quality of life and my 95% approval ratings. :(

In one game of CJ I managed to conquer all of North Africa. Then I was assassinated. :(

In another game I thought it to be a good idea to invade Cuba as my first official action. Just when Cuba surrendered the Russians launched a single nuke on the puppet government I had installed. The French retaliated (they attack anyone who starts using nukes). In turn, the Russians nuked France. A week after the first nuke was fired the game ended. :(

Usually, I go for pacifying the world diplomatically, granting MFN status to most countries, threatening to intervene if any country goes berzerk.

A really fun game. And how much had I spent on it? 5 German Marks! :)

I played Shadow President quite heavily around Christmas time last year. Could get boring at times though. One fun episode was when I intervened for Kuwait and somehow some nuclear missles were launched, China attacked me, lost a few advisors. Wasn't pretty.
