Map Issues

Cyprus should be part of the UK as you suggested. However we need two tags here. One for Cyprus and one for North Cyprus. This is needed to simulate the conflict in the area.

The lowest province intended for Israel should go to Saudi-Arabia IMHO. Israel might have a port (Elat) next to the Red Sea, but most of the province is certainly in Saudi-Arabia.

I'm not much of an expert on the Caribbean and Pacific areas I'm afraid.

EDIT: Ohh... and a playable 1952 is certainly more important than a 1962 map.

why not just have cyprus as an iderpendant nation once it left UK? then have events pop up saying that there has been conflict etc


regarding the UN and peace keeping forces how will they be simulated?

Cyprus becomes independent yes... but is invaded by Turkey, when they try to unify with Greece. Turkey gets the northern part of Cyprus, which later becomes independent (a satellite state of Turkey).

As to UN and peace keeping... we havn't found any good ways to deal with the issue yet. If we can find a dynamic solution, that won't limit the player or cripple the AI, we will implement it. However until when we'll ignore the UN.

EDIT: Btw. when did we move the starting year to 1952 and why? :confused:

I'm going to do EU at a point... EU will be represented by events only. No nation. There will be issue voting however. :D

EDIT: And the reason we won't have UN and EU countries is that we don't want people declaring war on UN or EU. Just to mention on problem. However I know the AGCEEP people has a "ghost" country. Meaning a country that is AI-controlled but doesn't own any provinces. This could be a UN solution, but it would introduce a number of new problems... IMHO it is a thing to be considered in the future. Currently we just want a working 1952-scenario, with correct POPs and techs... which in itself is quite a huge amount of work.

Btw. I'm ok with starting in 1952. Sorry I missed that. :eek:o

We need a team of people working on this, three guys will not get this all done. We need to attract more attention, maybe if we can get a beta v0.1 going (map changed but no pop changes) the kind Admins and Moderators will grant us a sub forum....
Until then, worry about the map.....

About that..... what islands go to who?

And does anyone know where to get a numbered map it would be way more useful than loading the game writing down provinces and exiting the game

The problem with POPs is we need to decide EXACTLY what POP-types we have. And how we determin the POP-types... I've been working on the Danish POPs, but finding statistical data reaching back to 1952 is difficult on the internet. Sure you can find the population numbers, but to determin POP-types we need education and workforce data as well. I know I might be getting overboard on this, but surely accuracy is desirable. :)

Because of lack of statistical data we might have to create "placeholder" POPs for most countries until such time as accurate data presents itself. Still we need to determin POP-types.

After a lot of consideration the only change I recommend is:

Aristocrat -> Bureaucrat

A rework of craftmen and clerks to something more modern would be desirable, but depends on which factories we introduce. Mainly if we which to include service industry as factories. The reason this is important is that in 1. world countries a majority of people is working in the service industries.

With pops, for the beta we are using the pops as they are....

a minor question: how are you planning on simulating a nuclear war case? I mean, it's alternative history, so there might be a nuclear showdown. The game mechanics do not allow for such a lovely fruit, so I assume you'll deal with it (if) by events.

Any thoughts about what kind of events you are planning on using?

Most events will center on the whole de-colonialization and west v. east tention thing; though minor national events will be added.

Nukes will be done by events.

Also What color should E. and W. Germany be?
