I do not know if the next version is ready but why not an alliance between Iran -Syria , Cuba-Venezuela-Ecuador-Bolivia, China-North Korea etc.
Is it realist and possible for MSD2DH ? It's just an idea.
I still like if Russia can become the leader of ECON.
Russia supplies Iran and Venezuela, so they rely on it. Russia also supports nuclear Iran and Syria. Ecuador and Bolivia would follow Venezuela I imagine.
North Korea would only have China, so them joining Shanghai makes sense.
Russia could perhaps pull in other rogue states? Pakistan maybe? Pakistan doesn't like China much due to territorial disputes and plus, it is somewhat close to Russia. Pakistan is suspicious of the U.S.
Perhaps Russia could coup Afghanistan or something in exchange for support against the Taliban. Russia could do a lot to mess up the Middle East with coups and support for Iran and the rogue regimes.
I see an expanded role for Russia, assuming Putin is in power.
If the communists win elections, though, it should change the dynamics of the Russian role in WW3. Closer ties with China would make sense, although as I stated before, I don't see Russia being subservient to China. That just doesn't make much sense.
Russia's entry into the war makes very little sense. Why would Russia attack the Scandinavian countries in the case of war with NATO when Finland and Sweden aren't even NATO members?
OK, good to hear your ideas on what can be done in MDS2!
Yeah, I know the Shanghai Pact holds China and Russia, but I'd expect in reality this pact was a buffer against the power of the US? Possibly as China becomes much more powerful in recent years, and Russia grows from the stagnation of the post-communist era, I would expect they would separate as you guys have intimated above. So agreed, I think it would be better for the Shanghai Pact to fade over time.
I've just done my first war for MDS2 on the Korean Peninsula in 2003. A bit early I know, but after it dies down, you will have 1 year before it could possibly start up again...
I've spent 3 days doing that. Much longer than I had expected, but it was worth it to do the AI and sort out the units, as there were a few important mistakes between the units/techs/events, which was stopping some of my events from working. Sorted out now.
It was great to see the US strategic_bombers (B-52's ?) flying all the way from Brisbane in Australia and Guam to attack North Korea. I've made their bombing runs very effective, but not overly so. Even with the US invasion of Iraq going on, the West was very capable of sending troops to South Korea etc etc. I learnt a lot doing Homeland so I'm now using those tools in MDS2. ...
So I'm doing the AI as I go along. Fixed the US invasion ai of iraq, as they were too stand-offish. Now they get stuck in and battle in IRQ all the time. Of course this fix will now filter on into all the other ai's so things should improve a lot hopefully.
I've given both sides in the Korean war missiles and again it was good to see them being used. It all depends on the AI. Set to reckless, the DPRK fired all of its missiles at once.. destroyed Seoul etc... but set to defence, South Korea fired some and held on to most. Interesting...
There is an absolute LOAD of work still to be done. At the moment I haven't added any sprites, just using counters. But for the next release I plan to have all the sprites in use.
Version will take a bit longer I think, as stuff is taking longer to do...
