Not all Europeans are socialists! For example the last socialist government in Britain was in 1979. You can't generlize (its like me saying that all Americans are right wing Bush lovers).

And I am sorry Jade Rat do we have "strange accents". I forgot that English actually comes from America and not the other way around.

I didn't mean the UK, I don't really consider the UK part of Europe (even though it really is) Bushes approval rating is around 27%.

You invented English..and we perfected it..lol

Greetings

Because the cold war mod turned out to be just a paper tiger, I was really looking forward for this one... Now that the 1.5 version is out, I was truely excited when I downloaded it. I installed it correctly and made the save games directories etc correctly, all fine. However, when I launch the game, I keep getting "--- excel file not found" and the game halts before it even launches. Anyone know if I did something wrong?

I installed this mod on clean 1.3a DD and there where no errors during any installation phases, so I think I haven't messed that one up.

Have you tried reinstalling the mod? maybe something didn't install right the first time.

jade rat: i do have to agree, we have some strange accents in britain, though its unfair to say as a whole they are weird - i have a very normal english accent but i would be the first to agree with you if you meant the scottish or those damned geordies :D though there are some odd american accents too.

the smasher: you forgot one little thing: almost all music made in the 21st century, even rock which is the best by far, has been, shall we say... awful. its all because of the lack of hallucinagenic drugs (i spelt that wrong i know)

Also PPP GDP seems more useful for IC in this mod in order to somewhat emulate how say, equipping an army is cheaper for Russia than for the US.
I agree that countries like Russia can pay for more men than western countriers, because their people demand less money. But men alone aren't important. Whats more important is technology, equipment and training. With technology and equipment you can get from outside your country, so GDP is more important.

I keep getting this error when trying to start a game, and no matter what I do, it results in a CTD.

ai-pref: Unexpected Field 'max_staging_distance = 5' line 303, file ai/per_2003.ai

Can you help me?

(I used the pre-installer then installed the mod into the created 8Mdern Day Scenario 2) directory, pathed the exe and all that.)

Edit: nevermind, I think i know what the problem is.

Btw, could you add a pre-uninstaller? Manually deleting all those bmps is knid of annoying...

But don't forget, part of that cheapness is due to the cost of training, Russian training standards (excluding the Spenztnas witch are actually quite high) are poor compared to most European and American levels. The average solider in the West goes though about 14 weeks, with many advanced schools going as high as 54 weeks, with the price tag of about 50,000-100,000 per recruite trained (depending on what your MOS is)

While the Russian counterparts getting a average of i think 4 weeks, with little or no virtual training, and few live fire practices.

As well as pay, the recruiter told me i could get around 25,000 sign-on bonus (if the inventive stands for my MOS) plus additional pay when i pass a pre-fitness test.

I don't know how much the Russians get paid, but judging from its defense budget- i wouldn't say they get to much.

Huoh, this has been asked soooo many times, but there hasn't been any answer. I suppose game mechanics beyond modders control is behind this, but... I've now completely unistalled and cleared the HOI2DD from my PC, re-installed it, updated to 1.3a version and then installed MDS 1.5 three times now, but it still halts at the main loading screen and whines about escort file being missing.

I've tried everything, even had (useless) hopes that copy-pasting same named file from hoi2dd directory would help. There is one error during the installment, which happends when I use the no time limit - it just whines about "wrong file size" (how is this even possible?), but nothing else.

Is there someway to solve this problem. I would really, really want to play this game

They should just make good installer. Would be nice to just click and wait it to be installed.

Yeah, I suppose so. However, we can't expect a group of volunteers to do everything. Still, getting the mod work without complications is an important factor. It's kind of difficult to enjoy a game if you can't accually play it. Keeping my hopes up for answer to my problems though...

i recently got it to work, i cant really remember how, but im pretty sure for that sort of thing you either just want to download it again, and hopefully the files will be ok, or maybe if you gave the exact name of the missing file i could try to send you it. i dont know if that'l actually help though. for any ntl errors i think i just copied hoi2.exe files from different places (your original hoi2 folder, the new mds folder) and tried to patch them all, and one just randomly worked.

hope that helps, and as i said if you think itl work im willing to try to find that little file and send you it.

Don't forget that Russia creates very elite armies through experience rather than training, and that weeds out the weak soldiers. Russian troops also go through extensive live-fire training, like a combat course, even their police do it, then they have good equipment, consisting of the most prolific rifle in the world. Don't forget that they have a very large army to serve so giving them large amounts of training and equipment is impossible, and quantity is very important if you think about it. You can take a position, but can you hold a wide area? Russia would win a war if it went to war, and that's a sad fact I've come to face, especially the way their army has reformed.

Britain is the joint most powerful country in the EU (with France and Germany). The UK has a permanent seat on the UN. And is a member of the G8. Britain is also 1 of 9 countries which has a nuclear weapon. Britain has been involved in conflicts in Kosovo, Sierra Leone, (and heavy involvement, next to the US in) Iraq and Afghanistan. I think you are underestemating the role Britain plays in the world. And what is the international role of North Korea again.
Also as of 2001 the average person in Britain was better off than a person in China (as measured by GNP).

I do have the following questions:

1. What is the use of GDP in a game when most of it comes from the service sector?

2. Does UN have a role in this game? No, except for maybe events.

3. Nukes are nothing these days. Quite a few countries have the tech to make nukes, but are restricted politically. Examples are ROK, Japan, South Africa.

Oka,y I actually have a question about the MOD.

What is the point of the AAV's? As far as I can tell, they have no transport capability, nor can they house CAGs.

They mod is great btw, I'm now getting my army rppied to shreads by the NATO airpower as russia.

Great mod, worked fine for me (followed the instructions as said), and it looks really good. Currently playing as the EU (united Europe FTW), and looking to crush the Americans. Might ally with Russia just for the hell of it.
