Thus, it's not such a big dissapointment that (most likely) no further progress will be made. I wish I could be of more help but I'm happy to see the mod isn't dead. Just a few questions please: will enough problems be sorted out so that the game works as intended? I'm sure you know what problems there are with the storyline failing to work properly and poor AIs which cause never ending wars. Secondly, could you give an estimate of how long it will take to release? Thirdly, what happened to the forum?

1) Yes, I think I have identified most errors, although there may be multiple issues with a set of events, so it needs some testing.

After having read a lot about AI and talking to a guy who is known for his potent AI modding, I have uncovered that it is very easy to make the AI good in specific situations. Sadly, having to do all these scripts and switch AI-events are more work than making the storyline itself.

2) Currently I get errors when trying to convert, but I'm sure that it will sort itself out by trying another approach. I will begin doing more serious work on this mod in September.

3) Don't know, I didn't bother to ask the host as there was so little activity. I also had all the things that were uploaded there, so i did not need the reference material.

Also, AoD version should be faster than the HoI2 one, as it is late game lag already from the start in MDS2 (which is less severe in AoD)

It's that I think it will run better on AoD, and it will give more opportunities for future modders. In addition, I wish to support AoD as a concept for a business model. ("fan" mad games as AoD and Magna Mundi)

I think you should continue to work in MDS 2 with AoD.

AoD is a more refined and improved HoI 2, still HoI 2 has better ai.

For me is not important in whichever versione it will be released, the only things that matters are AI (which is really dumb right now) and to fix the economic chains (I really like the idea, but the random build IC seems not to work correctly; in the game I'm playing Dominican Republic, Haiti and Azerbaijan reached 14 IC each since half of the world have "donated" their economic expansion to them) ;)

Killerrabit, if you are still having problems with the brigades try asking Firestorm as his mod (1964) has about 20 models of infantry, so he might know the answer.

The end of a era... and the beginning of a new one



Hi everyone!

It's been clear to me for over half a year that I really don't have time to do any active modding anymore. I have put of abandoning the mod during this time, in hope that I will find more time to finish it eventually. Having spent over 1000 hours on developing it so far, I really didn't want the mod to not be abandoned. However, I do not think that I will ever find the time needed to finish it. So with this I am retiring as MDS2 mod leader and developer.

Fortunatley, there is someone to continue the work - allowing me to retire without simultainously leaving the mod dead. The new leader is Paul Hanson. He is relativley new to the forum, but he have dedication and are very skilled. He will make his introduction here later. I will be providing him some help, but he will be in charge. As far as I know the plans are still to develop and release the latest version for AoD.

This is however, definatley not the last you will hear from me on these forums, there will soon be a major announcement about the new project I am working on. ;)
