I had this problem playing as China: i annexed Taiwan with the event "Democratic China attracts Taiwan", but then i had the WWIII event-chain. The curious thing is that, regardless of what i choose, i am at war with the Coalition. 
It's a problem with the event or somenthing else (my belligerence,...)?

The events are broken, the "Democratic China attracts Taiwan" is not supposed to happen if the communist party rules China. And since it's a beta-version, the WW3 breakout events were not modified to reflect this new event...
Hey I just installed this and its labeled as Modern Day Scenario 2 in the Parodox Interactive folder. The problem is that there is no way to access the game from the start menu and the folder also doesn't contain that no time limit patch thing. Any help would be appreciated.

why are england ireland and austia not member of eu? (they join in 70) and finland and sweden (join in the 80)???
well the UK is a member, but we've thankfully opted out of the more 'united states of europe' type things like the single currency, so i assume the modders decided we weren't closely enough linked to be in the military alliance and the potential single state. don't know about the others.

I believe the UK is not in the EU alliance because the other EU members did not partake in the Iraq war. The "coalition" allaince better represents that not all NATO members are in Iraq. (which is central to the mod)

For the next version, there will be no EU per say, but at the beginning of the scenario, all the members of the EU which also are NATO members will be allied.
The UK is in a seperate alliance with USA since they are an US puppet.
Another reason is that they like starting wars that other european countries won't participate in. At least not with a level troops that can modeled in MDS2. (Brigade) When WW3 starts, they will all join together in a alliance named NATO. This alliance does not exist at the start, but is modeled with guaranties of independence and military access. Sweden, Finland and Austria are going to be neutral all the time unless they are attacked. Non-EU NATO members such as Norway will join NATO and thus be in WW3. Turkey will most likely suffer an revolution and become either part of Shanghai Pact or ECON. US allies in Asia will also join NATO when WW3 begins.
The 3 major alliances are:
- NATO
- Shanghai Pact
- ECON (Middle Eastern alliance led by Iran)
