For some reason, for me, North Korea hasn't got any tech teams, Russia is not led by Putin and some other things like that. Some countries' leader boxes are blank. Why?

i think the putin think is a bad install. his smiling face graces the head of government post in my install.

Could anyone tell me why Preinstaller.exe just generates an empty folder for me?
I had to install it by copying the entire DD folder and installing MDS over it.

Eh, I don't know where your problem is exactly, but it is very common for leaders and ministers to go missing during a botched installation. If Putin isn't in the starting cabinet it is very likely your Russia.txt in the db / minister-folder didn't get copied over properly, for example. Try to look it up and check if he is listed there as a start.
There is little point in giving you the correct file since it is pretty certain that even more errors have occured with leaders and ministers for other countries which you just haven't noticed yet.
The only tip I have is: Download everything anew and follow the installation instructions to the letter.

I followed the instructions for MDS but when it goes to to main screen to load, the picture with the academy graduates throwing their caps it freezes. When I try to exit the program via task manager I get this error message:
Could not open db\units\divisons\escorts.txt
What do I need to do in order to fix this and play my game?

have you been developing new icons for units, similar to thoses from SKIFF for HOI2? great work, I look forward to playing V1.6..will be release soon??
My version of MDS doesn't contain a file called db\units\divisons\escorts.txt, so that might be your problem. Delete it and try again.
However, if there's one error there are likely even more errors in other files, so your best bet would be to install everything a second time, should the game still freeze.

Yes there will be new unit icons in MDS v1.6. About the release date, I intend to put pressure on Killerrabbit to release the mod somewhere in July/August, just before HOI3 comes out

db/ministers/ministers_rus has Putin as the head of government. Well, i'll try to reinstall DD and install 1.3a and then download the mod again. Thank you anyway!
