it's like every nation got its balls cut off.

interesting concept, extremely well done, but the vast majority of nations have little/no IC with which to actually build armies or research techs at more than one at a time, it loses the fun value quite quickly. And when the people playing your mod are the ones that actually enjoy a game such as HoI, thats a problem.

better luck next time.

Well then, you'd better go take potshots at TRP and CORE2 too, since those mods restrict minors to reality in much the same way you described. I'm not cutting any balls. They aren't there to start with.

iran liberates ıraq

hi, playing as iran when i liberated ıraq, i decided to establish new nation of ıraq.In new ıraq cabinet, saddam husain again became president and the all former baas party members constituted the rest of the cabinet.this surprised me, because i was expecting muqtada-el-sadr and other shia guerillas to take power..if anyone write this before, ignore it..

i saw this mod 3 weeks ago and played since that time..it is so great, thank u..i am sure, a lot of people asked and the team answered millions of time, but i didn't see a release date in takeforum.com when 1.6 version of mds will be released?

I think your review is incredibly unfair. While the mod definitely needs work, your problems with it seem to be with the reality of the situation in the modern world. However, i will agree that it does need major work. I tried playing as Iran, and found that it was all too easy to declare my own war on iraq and then to simply ally with Russia, which blocked the russia chinese alliance from happening. One thing i must mention is the failure of the authors to capture the reality of what is going on in the middle east. Iran actually has very good relations with all of it's neighbours, while in the game, they are portrayed as a pariah, and actually start with a negative relationship with turkey, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Anyway, i'll play a few more games before i make a final judgement. However, i would like to know if the team that put this together is continuing with the project and whether or not their accepting contributions...

I would agree much more this than the previous posts. However, I have some notes; Iran is kind of "pariah", as the one of two none-sunni none-arab states in the middle east. (the other being Israel) Iran would traditionally, and in 2003, be an enemy of Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and off course with -200 relations with Saddam Hussein's Iraq. While the relations have traditionally (post-revolutionary) been bad, the relations are improving. The people in the arab states regards Iran more friendly than their governments. Saudi Arabia is rearming to meet the threat of Iran, but even so, they will not join USA's alliance against Iran. This has been pointed out very clearly by Saudi Arabia earlier.

We are currently developing a new version, and contributions would be welcome. :)

prc's IC values

wasn't china's IC value exaggerated so much?China begins the game approximately 400 IC while USA begins with 560 IC..Russia has 165 IC.according to 2007 gdp values, USA's gdp is more than 4 times that of China's.but in game, it seems to me that USA and China have close IC levels which is unlikely in real world.Furthermore,Russia's GDP is quite less than that of China's..this situation is compatible in the game as well..so according to gdp values, we could have claim that Usa should have higher IC level..but, this time we have japan problem due to the fact that japan has higher GDP than China(second in the world actually),so, we could claim that japan should have more IC than that of China..japan's having more IC than China would make all the things messed up because japan doesn't have military industry and even regular army(but in the game this would make japan more powerful than china in terms of military)..so, ı finally come up with such a situation; if China's IC level is higher than Japan due to its huge military industry, shouldn't Russian IC be more than that of China because of the fact that compared to China, Russia has more advanced and bigger military industry..

ı don't know what techniques u use to determine IC values of countries, so my claims may not make any sense

Nope. Look at what Russia has ordered for their millitary in recent years. Not much, actually. Then take China, which are building fighters and warships on a large scale for domestic use. Japan is 3rd using PPP GDP numbers, which is much more fitting. For example, the nominal GDP of Russia has increased 10-fold since the mid-90's, mainly due to the increased value of the ruble against the dollar.

IC will be recalculated using PPP GDP numbers from 2003, with industry weighted twice. Then we will introduce something called "millitary budget", which if high, will strain the economy and cause less economic growth. If low you will get less IC. This will be a direct consequence of the hawk-dowe lobby slider.

russia's tank numbers is very low in 1.5 version and in a message u said u will fix this problem..same problem is valid for turkey in the opposite direction..in game,Turkey has 14 tank division which is highly exaggerated number...

in real world, turkey has 300 leopard 2a4, 170 M60T, 400 leopard1,750 m60 patton and 2800 m48 patton tanks..m60 patton and m48 patton tanks are mostly obsolete and not all of them are in service..even if all these tanks are in service, total of these tanks(4420 tanks) is quite less than total number of russian tanks(approximately 21000 tanks)..ı hope this will also be fixed in 1.6, for turkey it is very hard to find enough oil to keep its huge tank army moving..

i also wonder that is there any event which cause PKK to establish a kurdish state in southeast Turkey?

fixed for 1.6.

1.5 had a problem in that it modeled everything as divs when most nations only have brigades.

As for Kurdistan,we have plans for an independent Kurdistan in northern Iraq leading to some biting and scratching between it and Turkey, but we have no plans for Turkey to lose territory.

While I've always liked the mod, it seems that I won't be downloading 1.6. It seems like the devs have gone ballistic on making it too real. Which means I can't even make the slightest move without extreme involvement by the greater powers. A shame really.

So the Coalition of 1991 was really exaggerating when they mopped the floor with Saddam...The baddies. Saddam was just trying to build his own little Empire and those crazy Westerners cut him off

You do what Saddam did in '91,namely invade other countries to forge some kind of empire, you get a '91 response.

Which is exactly why it might be boring playing a mod for a WWII war game concentrated almost entirely on war. ;)

Well, a storyline will build up to WW3. Out of the blue DOW's and annexations will have consequenses.

It won't be a 'managing inflation-game' if that is what you are afraid of. :D

If people don't want to download, that's their choice, but I certainly would wait untill it's released before making that statement.

Will there at least be anything for minors to do except be conquered in WW3 or (hopefully) before that?

Plenty!

Before WW3,you'll like to use the peacetime to achieve some form of economic growth.Take time to stamp out corruption so your IC can flourish (being a democracy and free market really helps!Being a dictatorship with a planned economy really doesn't). You'll also want to buddy up to your "designated" major (the one who's sphere of influence you're in...building relations with the US as North Korea should be wasted money) so you can take advantage of the tech sharing and aircraft/tank purchase chains we're working on.

Once WW3 starts...it depends.

Europe for example will see a Barbarossa in reverse with Russia on a hair-on-fire offensive.

If you're Poland or some other Eastern European minor you're on your own against Russia while Germany,France,UK and USA gear up fully. Israel will play in much the same way when eventually pitted against its neighbours for one final Arab-Israeli showdown. Taiwan will subscribe to the "Survive until US arrives" strategy as well.

If you're playing Belarus, you'll get to ride piggyback on Russia,as will be the Central Asian republics.

Pakistan will have to worry about India.

Australia will have to sweat a bit in case of a Shanghai Pact Indonesia.

Myanmar will have a chance to push all the way to Singapore.

North/South Korea will obviously have another go at resolving the Civil War.

Africa and South America will be proxy heaven with both the USA and China/Russia dumping money, tech and military hardware to ensure their proxies win.
