Ummmm, Sweden was also under the threat of a Soviet invasion.

The difference betwean Sweden and Finland (in defence force) is that after WW2 Finland had the war experience that told them to focus on a light armed army, using mainly guerilla tactics, while Sweden have been constantly uppgrading all of their armed forces. And as we can see in modern warfare, a larger army means nothing if one participant has a large hi-tech airforce like Sweden compared to some nation with a small outdated airforce like, i dunno, let's say Finland.

In MDS 1.2 (i think it was 1.2), just for the fun of it, declared war on Finland and Norway with Sweden at the same time. Sweden had like 4 air divisions of MRF, 2 wich I used to pin down norweigan and finnish air forces and 2 to suck out the manpower of their "large" armys. I won without a single ground battle. Thats why I love MDS, I can beat the crap out of my neighbours without losing any manpower.

Oh and next time, read Killerrabit's posts before posting. It was like 2 posts below the old post you are quoting.

Very good points. You can eliminate a country with these tactics. March your ground troops in after your advanced air force mops them up and take provinces with ease.

@Biga, Any reason you can't access the team-forum? I mean, you've allready posted there...

I have little time at the moment... We are making a film-festival :), Q-film ;)

I don't understand but yes, earlier I could post but since this I can't access it altough I tried from two separate PCs/inet connection. I used the link in your signature: http://calmer.kilu.de/MDS2/index.php. Strange... :(

BTW is there finally generals and admirals for Japan?

I'm still working on that. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to devote to it before V1.5 was to be released. However, now I've got some more time before the next version (and our earnings season has starting cooling off), plus, I've got some recent Jane's resources now. So, I'm doing Japan right. Of course, it may take more time to get military leaders, but I'm working on that as well. There will also be a lot of ministers when I'm finished as well. I might even get ambitious and make some political events modeled after what's been happening from 2003 to now (quite a bit of political shuffling has been going on as well as some "event friendly" happenings, now that I've been looking into Japanese politics). :D

AI question

Hi friends,
first: the mod is incredible!! thank you very much!!
second, i have a question: i look at in the INC archives, inside the MDS carpet, and i don´t find the AI archive.
the question is, if i wont create an especific AI archive to, for example Cuba, what i may do?
I know that in AI carpet exist, for example USA_2003.AI, then, creating CUB_2003.AI and moddifing this is sufficient? i might put something in INC archive?
thank you!!

 sorry, but my english is so bad, i know.... :p

So I decided to download MDS 1.5 and give it a try. It didnt take long for me to pick a nation, EU. I formed the nation almost instantly only to realize that I got -200 in relations with almost every nation in the world. Having huge amounts of cash I quickly bought my friends over but only 3 nations where willing to join my alliance. Japan, Poland and Turkey the later 2 quickly joined my little union making the EU the single most powerfull block in the world (and Japan was my friend so our military might was uncontested). I kept asking sissy little pacifist nations like austria and sweden to join in, but no matter how simular our nations where they wouldnt join my alliance. Then the Taiwan event triggered and I thought China and Taiwan would go to war so I joined in, I've never been the one who can resist a fight with the russians.

Normal procedure, I had like 24 MRF and 4 CAS so I bombed the russians back in time, to their most glorious moment in time, the stone age, where my mecanized divisions had vast amount of land to roll around in. I asked the russians plenty of times if they wanted to stop this nonsence fighting, but they prefered to wait. And wait they did, untill the nuke event triggered and nukes where raining down over Europe, closely followed by a mass uprising, mainly in France (yes, seriously, revolting is a pass time hobby in France).

Russia had given up, Puting gave his soldiers and outdated tanks (and airplanes? dunno if they had any, didnt see them) to the Chinese, my japanese friend had only a small taste of the nuklear rain, two nukes, just as in the last world war. Russia was defeated, but me and my only ally was crippled. As I watched the 6th (or 7th?) revolution of france I knew that it was time to let go of this game and forget about it.

So what did I learn? Russia has a lot of nukes.
I played MDS as if it was HOI2 wich lead to my defeat, MDS 1.5 is awesome, just dont expect the warfare to be anything like HOI2. The world is alot more complicated today than it was in the 40s, and for the good of the world I hope there will never ever be another world war. The only nations wich will win, is the nations who stayed out of war.

Two thumbs up for MDS 1.5, it's a great mod for an already great game.

Edit: The nationalitys mentioned in this post is fictional and any resemblance to the real nationality is just coincidental. Everything in this post is fictional, even most of the spelling... Except for that Vladimir Putin who will be the end of the world as we know it...

This mod is awesome. It came a long way since I first played it. But there are problems:

1: At 23:00, the game stops for a few seconds. Tis' annoying.

2: I get an error when saving. It says it can't read the save file when I try to save it. Game breaking maddness!

I wasn't able to form EU when I played, I got the event asking people to form it, but I waited a month and didn't get any land(most of Union joined except Belgium, Portugal, and Denmark). Do I have to wait longer or was it just a bug or what?

Modern Day Scenario 2/AI -folder ;)

No, you must modify the file itself also... If you arent familiar with modding AI, you're better off with cuba using the default file...

Belgium, Germany and France must join in order for the EU to be created. There is a 95 % chance for each of them to join.

Great post. I prefer MDS 2 to regular DD or Armageddon... But I have to admit that I don't play very much. :D I use cheats all the time, then I get bored after a while because it is too easy.

I've been trying to make nations accept peace-deals, but they often refuse... Did you make harsh demands, or a white peace?

Invading a nuclear power is a huge gamble, but they choose to NOT use nukes 30 % of the time, and if you are up against small nuclear powers like Israel, you can take their airports before they can decide to launch their nuclear load.

Funny thing happened in my new Israel game today - the Coalition lost in Iraq and had to make a peace treaty, so Saddam's gov't is still in power in december 2005.

Same thing with my game as Israel. Iraq was a free nation again after the U.S. was kicked out. Iran, and Saudi Arabia dowed them. Heck with that I launched operation "Allied Wrath." I have claimed most of Iraq, but now I'm staring at Iran across the street...

Downloaded, i'm going to test it. I've played the last version so i'll be able to say if changes are great or not but i already think they are hehe.
Although, i have a question : how did you make the intro video. Because i've made one for another mod (in .avi) and when i bink it, there is no sound. So if you could help me it would be great. (maybe a pm discussion would be better but i don't know who to pm)
