Just picked up Darkest Hour after researching this mod. Had no problems so far playing as Iran.Three has not been any glitches so far after a year game time playing.
This seems to be the only working modern age mod so far. Thumbs up!

I'll reupload it to Mediafire after I get home from some Independence Day celebrations. Felipe has been MIA lately but I'm still spending a lot of my free time on this, I'm currently working on a new tech tree and adding it to the mod.

I was wondering if work was still being done on the mod.After playing 5 hours without any problems its very stable.Ugunda had no technogy teams was the only thing I found so far.
Great to see that a deeper tech tree is being made.

What do I need to actually drop a nuke on someone? I declared war on Israel (and the USA by extension) as Russia but sadly I could not deploy my nuclear arsenal against anyone. What techs do I need to nuke someone?

Nuke's are deactivated until you lose a large portion of your VP's, when that happen's an event will fire that will activate the nuke mission and give you a large amount of ICBM's. It was done to prevent everyone from going crazy with hundreds of nukes as soon as war starts.

@ Protra - Yes work is still being done, after I finish the new tech tree I was going to focus on giving all nations tech team's and adding more events.

Not sure I can do much, but I'd gladly lend what assistance I can to the mod. That said, the insurgency in yemen gets a bit rediculous over time. I think they maxed out at 400 units in a province just sitting there. Might need to be rebalanced. Also might want to put in a "us intervention" event there, even if its just a flavor event. Overall great work, and can't wait for further development.

I came here to post about the messed up IC values, but then I noticed that they were already discussed a few pages ago.

I think IC should the first priority. It makes the game unplayable for me, atm. I think I could help with them, but I have no modding experience whatsoever. (Any simple guides available?) And how are you planning to implement them? Like... what's the formula you're using? GDP? Nominal and/or PPP, "official" military budgets? I know a thing or two about them, so yeah, I'd really like to help.

Btw, are the "IC growth" events still in? As I said, I don't want to play with those IC values, so I don't know. :) If I remember correctly, in the older versions, atleast China's IC grew at a fast rate automatically every or, or so. There should also be a way to upgrade your power projection capabilities, from regional to worldwide, etc. And you should be able to improve the training of your pilots. The fact is that in 2003 Russian and Chinese pilots were not well trained, atleast compared to the west. However, nowadays this has more or less changed, as the article shows. Russian pilots fly over 100 hours per year, Chinese probably even more. Those kind of techs (power projection and flight training) should not be locked. The world changes at a fast pace, multipolarity is a thing.

Guys IC capabilities is unrealistic.. Many minor nations have too many IC like Turkey and Greece..

What? I would say that Turkey is not a "minor" power. Actually the first I noticed was Turkey's ridiculously low IC.

I have seen the insurgency in Yemen overrun the whole country with almost 1000 units.

When I attacked them multiple times with 300+ up to date units (MBTs, Special Forces, TAC/CAS), they repelled me despite having about 20 ORG in each unit.
To add insult to injury, they replenished their losses (500k+ vs. 300-400k mine) easily from some invisible manpower pool.
There were more "Jihadist" units in that area than there probably are in the whole world:angry:

Also, if commies win the 2004 election in Russia, then there should be a revanchist path to restore the USSR, maybe even resume spreading communism to the rest of the world...leading to a new cold war.

I also noticed for Israel/North Korea/UK/Pakistan that with enemy forces had all but overrun the nation that they chose NOT to use nukes. Especially for Israel, this is highly unrealistic.

Other than the issues previously mentioned this is an awesome mod, been waiting for something like this for a while

@ Kimppis - The IC allocation is also something I'm looking at right now, I'm probably going to do some work on it later today. The IC growth events are in, you get GDP growth events if you're a free market nation and if you're a centrally planned nation you can build lots of IC quickly. You can also upgrade your power projection and pilot training, they aren't locked and you can up or downgrade whenever you wish.

@ th3redmenace - I'm already looking at the insurgencies, it'll be fixed in the next update. As for restoring the USSR, I don't want to spoil anything but I'm looking at adding more AH options. When it comes to all of them choosing not to choose their nukes, that's just incredibly lucky on your part. If I'm not mistaken the event has a 70% AI chance of choosing to use them.

I meant for next release, for now you could simply edit the save game and scenario files to end whenever you want. I'm pretty sure the ministers don't start to die off until 2030 I think, more than enough time for you to conquer the world.

1)Can someone explain how fighting corruption is supposed to work? I've tried to do this many times without effect...
2)Future soldier brigade is way too weak compared to other 2015 units.

I forgot exactly how the corruption fighting works but it should be a chance each time you give the anti corruption group funds that your corruption level will decrease. If you haven't gotten it to go down that's most likely just a run of bad luck. As for the future soldier brigade, I'm aware but since I'm overhauling the tech tree for the next release there isn't much of a point in changing stats for it.

Hi guys, I played for a while MDS Update 3 and I have a few things to say:

Your idea about extending the mod to year 2100 is awesome and well planned.
After every day the mod is very slow, I don't know why but it's frustating, even the original MDS have had this issue.
The upper panel with this blue color is little wrong, a graphics update will be nice. ;)
Take a bank loan can be used 1 000 times, please fix this - click once and make the decision to disappear just like Issue Currency works.
The Bulgarian names for armies with latin words are not very correct, also some pictures are missing - I can fix this stuff myself if I know where to look and then send you the files.

Hi guys, I played for a while MDS Update 3 and I have a few things to say:

Your idea about extending the mod to year 2100 is awesome and well planned.
After every day the mod is very slow, I don't know why but it's frustating, even the original MDS have had this issue.
The upper panel with this blue color is little wrong, a graphics update will be nice. ;)
Take a bank loan can be used 1 000 times, please fix this - click once and make the decision to disappear just like Issue Currency works.
The Bulgarian names for armies with latin words are not very correct, also some pictures are missing - I can fix this stuff myself if I know where to look and then send you the files.

Hi Timur, glad you're enjoying the mod. ON my PC the game doesn't really get slower but that's probably because I have a gaming rig but there isn't really much to do to fix that, there's simply a ton of nations on the map so the engine has to check for events in all of them etc. I'm currently going through and looking at all the events and changing things up as seen fit, so you can expect that to be fixed as well. As for the Bulgarian leaders names, I'm not sure why they would have latin names? I just took a look at the leader file and they have a number of leaders with Bulgarian names, maybe you have enough units that you're getting the random leaders now? If you want to take a look at it go to db/leaders/bulgaria.txt and if you add any make sure to send it to me so I can implement it :)
