UK Event

N Ireland Event

Republican dissidents in the province seeing that the British army is now committed to a major conflict, demand the removal of remaining British troops, UK government refuse their demand.

In response to the refusal, combined IRA/INLA command issue a statement, that they will no longer honour the cease fire agreement that is in operation, and to highlight their point several bombs and detonated causing extensive damage in Belfast and Ulster (Infrastructure reduced by 10, dissent increase by 2).

Loyalist paramilitary command issues their own statement, announcing that they will allow the actions or the IRA/INLA to go without reprisal, and several bombs are detonated within republican areas of the province.

Mass demonstration are staged by both sides, Republicans demanding the right to vote on the subject of becoming part of Eire, Loyalist’s demanding that the UK government takes a stronger stance against the republican cause.

Eire government issues statement calling for calm within the province, and stating that it supports a referendum for the people of the north.

In response to the growing level of violence, and to show that it has no intention of handing over sovereignty of the province to Eire or anyone else UK government commits several thousand more UK troops to the province ( Manpower decrease 10).

UK government issues a curfew, and re-implements internment within the province in an attempt to stop attacks on its forces within the province.

Eire government condemn the actions of UK government stating that it cannot standby and watch as it’s fellow countrymen are treated in such a away, Eire begins full mobilisation.

Republican dissidents from the north flood in to Eire (manpower increase 40), in response to this, UK forces are increased within the province and border fortifications are increased (land fort +1).

Several attacks on UK military installations on the border take place, causing loss of life (UK Dissent +1). UK government suspects these where backed by Eire Government.

Calls on UK government to act against the attacks, from several Newspapers, and politicians. Causing unrest within the UK (dissent +1).

Backed by popular demand, UK government issues warning to Eire government that any further attacks against the UK, will result in UK military action against them. (UK dissent -1).

This could then lead to a choice to the AI or player, IE, back bomb attacks, or refuse to back bomb attacks.

There is probably enough in the event to be split in to 4 or 5, each with several choices.

Will break it down once i get some feed back.

Opinions time!!!!! :)

I don't know? Ireland would know it would be in for a beating if it mobilized. How about having some attack on Ireland would prompt mobilization.

Like this,

During the attacks some of the IRA flees across the border into Ireland and sets up shop. Ireland does not support this but does nothing to stop it due to sympathy with the IRA. As things heat up the IRA restarts its bombing campaign in mainland Britain. After a stern warning the RAF bombs several positions in Ireland where the IRA were staged and then Ireland mobilizes.

Also perhaps more extreme troubles would make it more likely of Irish intervention. It can start as bombings and unrest by the republicans but end up as open revolt AKA Easter uprising. To be represented by more extreme losses to supply and manpower and dissent loss as well as much more destructive events if Ulster is not garrisoned. Such as Ulster reverts to Ireland if its not garrisoned and then you would get a war with Ireland but major dissent hits and generally bad events. Otherwise you would garrison Ireland and take regular hits thru bad events but less extreme damage than if you gave up the province.

Hmmm seems difficult perhaps a special Ulster troubles AI will be required for the UK.

As you said Ireland would be in for a beating, like you idea of RAF strategic strikes could be a good way to get Ireland involved, will expand my original idea, see if i can come up with a thread of events leading to war.
