Hehe, I was just waiting for someone pointing that out. Now, to make up for this +1, I have just edited another post four times to answer different posters in one go. Man, I feel so proud.

Also, there are two types of a-socials: The I-am-better-than-anyone-else-so-I-constantly-bash-them's, that would be the FPS crowd (although I do those too). And then there's the I-am-smart-and-thus-have-no-friends-so-I-am-desperate-for-kind-words people, those would be us.

But you know... Denmark didn't exactly put up much of a "fight" .

Denmark hasn't won a war against a foreign power since the 17th century and in spite of that we still exists as an independent nation today. How many can claim that? While we have lost quite many territories, Skåne is the only one we lost with danes living there. Norway, Schleswig-Holstein and Iceland would have been granted indepence today if we owned them.
Anyways to derail this topic, Danes are happier than your people , so I can just ignore our suckage in warfare.

EDIT: If I remember correctly arguing if Rommel or Montgomery was the better general starts quite a discussion too.

Meh, the British made Firefly was good, in certain circumstances.

I know, the later variations were pretty effective too, I was just pointing out the fact that if they went up against Tigers, they usually got blown to pieces unless there was air support.

I know not many were used, but they performed very well against the Japanese too because the Japanese tanks were tin cans.

In Europe, however, I think it can safely be said that the Shermans were the worst of the majors' mainstream medium tanks.

I agree on Relic. Moderation with an opinion and an iron fist. I don't frequent there anymore. I'm involved in a number of other forums and lurk here on almost a daily basis. Everyone is helpful here.

If a Sherman went up agaisn't anything post 1940/1, its lost . It does however fill the role is was designed for, easy production. You could either have one tank on par with the Tiger, or 200 Shermans.

Still, this is OT.

IMO Monty was a very good general who has a lot of unfair critics, including many Brits. What I don't like was his (and Alanbrooke's, and many others) criticisms of Ike after the war.

And the Sherman E8 pwned the T34/85 in Korea, though that may have been due to better crew training. In fact after early '51 US Army units in Korea often got rid of the Pershing (a maintenance nightmare, especially with fan belts) and kept only Shermans and M46 Pattons. The T34 had its reputation inflated from it's early invulnerability to M24 Chaffee light tanks, 57mm bazookas and those woefully unprepared and poorly led garrison troops from Japan.

And don't pick on Denmark. Let the Swedes do that.

A nice, positive, educational thread that turned into an epic 9-way pissing contest, chiefly over whether the Allies could have beaten Germany without the Red Army. Good times.
