Europa Universalis III was great since with all its DLCs it had sprites for pretty much all european powers in the first two eras.
In Europa Universalis IV only the participants to the Hundreds Years War and a few others have special / unique models. Everyone else gets the same, default "random guy with a boring helmet and a halberd". It's boring, grey, bland, uninteresting.
It really pays no homage to a period which had GREAT armors (the period was the pinnacle of armor-making) and colourful and beautiful armies. This is the period of great mercenary leaders, the Condottieri, and the Landsknecht. Looking good on the battlefield was as important as actually winning the battle
Some pics from the second half of the 15th century / first half of the 15th:
Please consider adding models to european factions in the early period, especially for italian & german ones. Most importantly, give them some colour!
Also, I understand you cannot make UNIQUE models for each country, but at least make generic cultural ones that don't suck (for each culture group, so OPMs which aren't important enough to get a unique one don't have to use the vanille model). The policy in EU IV of making models for just a few countries and leaving the rest of them in the dirt is really annoying.
