@Mr_Dimento is this a mod?
Paradox has a history of mixed (sometimes very poor, sometimes ok) graphics for HoI series.
I've played since HoI1 and did a full graphic overhaul compendium of best available mods in HoI2.
Modders often better job than paradox on these things but one could say to be fair that they're working from a great base game. What's odd is that paradox doesn't seem simply adopt better sprites/models from mods, or at least learn conceptually from them.
HoI1-HoI2 was actually a step backwards on sprites and I've never thought they got it right to date. New games are released with limited variety sub-par sprites and other unit models, and then on come the DLCs that take forever to do what modders have often already done. I don't mind at all the concept of paying for ongoing developmetn of the core game, I'm not in that camp.
My question is more: Why not just recycle and improve... for example, what paradox did years ago to get pictures of all the various ww2 generals. I forget what it was called but they had some campaign inviting people to submit pictures of generals and those pictures, initially black and white mostly, have evolved from those originals to what we see today. *That* is cool.
It's *not* cool that in HoI4, after 10 years of game development, generic unit cards are nothing more than a black silhouette. There are sadly too many similar examples.
How cool would it be to have a library of sprites and unit cards and the option to choose in-game your preferred PzIV sprite (for example) from a list/library of great options... that would make my little wargaming heart sing.
Gripes aside... I love this game and that they are constantly tinkering with it.
