Pretty much what the title says. Basically any changes i make to the religions text file has no impact on the game. For example changing the amount of a wives a Muslim ruler can have from 4 to 6 still has the ruler marrying 4 at max. I thought it might have something to do with governments? Any help you guys can give me would be appreciated, I've been pulling my hair out all day on this.

Thanks

If I had to guess, it might be an issue with the mod file/folder setup. Double check that its done properly, or better yet re-do it entirely to be sure you don't miss anything.

Also, just to clarify; are you testing this on new games?

-EDIT- Also check to see if the file is retaining the changes. It may have been set to read-only for some reason. Unlikely but possible.

I'm actually modding directly on the relgions.txt file in my game installation, since i assumed as you did, that i was messing up somehow. I am testing this on new games and still no changes. i set religion playable = no and can still play that religion and max_consorts = 10 and when i mouse over the religion it says 3 concubines, i have no idea why. i've also verified integrity of game cache multiple times.

And the file is retaining the changes? Meaning you make a change, save it, close it, open it back up and the change is still there in the file?

You also don't have any other mod active?

I think the game has a hard-coded limit of 4 wives or 3 concubines, so raising it about that won't have any effect.
Since Muslims need a DLC to playable, it's possible that DLC is overwriting the playable = no. I'm not sure how that works, since I've never tried to disable an existing religion.

Have you tried creating a mod instead of modifying the file directly? If something is triggering Steam's file integrity check, that will replace your changes with the original file. Also, you're changes will get overwritten when the patch comes out.
