Modding the EUG-files

Hey all

I thought it would be kinda fun to play as an Orthodox Kingdom of Denmark, instead of a Catholic, so I accessed the EUG-file via NotePad, and made the appropriate changes, and attempt to save the file, overriding the original one (which I have done a number of times before with no problems - back before I used Vista).
But then I get this dialogue-box telling me that the file "...save games\Kingdom of Denmark_1066_December_26.eug" can't be created..

Any advice?

The file probably is 'read only'. Right-click on the file, select 'properties' and then 'deselect' the 'read only'.

If you installed the game in Program Files (never do this), you can't edit it under Vista, even as an admin.

Ah...there's the problem...
So, if I uninstall, and then reinstall, but anywhere BUT program files, it should work?

Well, you can't install it under C:\Windows either
Vista protects the OS folders like Program Files, so you can't touch them.

But anywhere else, like C:\Games, is fine.

Sorry for the OT as well, I edit my files regurlarly, and they're installed in program files and I have Vista, you just need to change the permissions settings in the My Computer folder.

Right click on your C: drive, whichever holds your program files, go to properties and then click on the security tab, and click on edit, give all permissions to every type of user, thats the only way to make sure it works.

Nope But thanks for trying It still gives me the same error....which might be due to some dialogue-boxes that said that this and this could not be changed, because there was no access or stuff like that...
So I'm gonna try with the "don't install in program files"-solution...

You wouldn't happen to know how to change the security settings back to default, would you?

I'm afraid I don't, but it shouldn't be a problem unless you share the computer with someone thats liable to walk around your internal files and move/delete them, if that is the case you can just tailor things to suit your needs..
