Hi all,

I have been looking through the wiki but could not find the answer to this question (or maybe I wasn't looking properly  ). How would one go about modding the techs already researched at scenario start for a country. Say if in my alt-history world France has decided not to be afraid and hide behind the Maginot line and to go for more offensive land doctrines?

Thanks in advance!

You'll find it in the country's .INC-file in the scenario's subdirectory in <hoi2-dir>\scenarios.

Ahh, indeed. Thanks.

And how would I go about adding territorial claims? I tried adding the provinces I was interested in to nationalprovinces={} but that did not seem to do the trick.

To do that you should just add the province in the nationalprovinces-bracket. Did you load an old game? In that case you must add the province in the save-game.

Strange... do I have to be non-democractic for them to show up in-game? And I'm starting a new game altogether, so that can't be the problem.

No, you don't have to be non-democratic, that has nothing to do with it.
Double check that you're in the right bracket and make sure that there's no # to the left of the new province ID you've added.

I have no idea actually, it looks allright. Which provinces won't show up as national provinces?

All the provinces I added. Belgium, Belgian Congo and part of Switzerland. I have no claim on them - or at least I don't seem to.

EDIT: just an idea: could it be that my custom .inc file is ignored if an error occurs while loading the rest of the scenario? Right now the game is complaining about a corrupted ministers_fra.csv file. And not only do my custom nationalprovinces not show up, but also the policy slider settings I set in the .inc file seem to be completely ignored. Oddly enough, my custom ministers do seem to be loaded correctly

Strange, they seem to match...
Are you sure that you've edited the correct .INC-file, btw? It won't help if you're playing 1936 but have edited the one for the 1938 scenario...

That shouldn't be the case, but try to remove the ministers-file and see what happens anyway...

Hallsten quoted just to stay on original topic.

When adding techs like you discribed, for example doctrines, will improvements in morale, organization etc that normaly come with the tech be affected on the units you have in the field?
