Hello,

After a long period modding EU4, I have tried to implement new buildings in the base game, mainly in the form of new fortification improvements (colonial wooden fort for colonial regions, city walls for local defensiveness without ZoC, intermediary fort improvements like glacis…

While I was perfectly able to do so, I was never able to get a working 3D asset for my new buildings.

Even simply removing the ZoC from one fort makes the model disappear (from what I noticed of MEIOU, which completely removed ZoC, fort 3D models sont show anymore on the map)

I guess that it is because the current modding capacity doesn’t offer any way for modders to bring in their own models ; hence I humbly ask to bring us this opportunity

Thanks

You can add your own models as far as i am aware. Its just hard to adjast it to work. I have seen enough mods that add unique buildings or replace vanilla for fantasy versions of them. Also a usual issue is the model size, so your issue could lie there.

If you would send me one, I would be happy to give it a look.

Personally I did not see any mod which adds onmap models for buildings, only Monuments and great works (which are at a fixed position). 2D sprites in the building tab yes, but not 3D models on terrain

Even MEIOU which had completely overhauled the fort system to remove ZoCs didn’t display any fort mode

Here is what I tried to do without success :
- removing ZoC from fort in buildings.txt (model disappears without even touching anything to the model or assets files)
- creating a NewBuilding in buildings.txt, copying fort 3D model or manufactory 3D model and their relative assets, directory paths, and linking the “copied” asset (I.e manufactory) to my NewBuilding. Same, no building appears even though I used an existing model (so no scale change or whatever)
