Hey there :)
Now, I've tried to mod a completely new map. So far I've succeeded, I have my new map in there, province placings are correct, creating dejure-titles and Characters works, too.
My only problem is...My province map consists of 1198 provinces, I've named them "Province 1" to "Province 1198". The provinces themselves show up in the game, but the problem is...up until Province 1100, everything works fine, but from then on, the provinces are named after provinces from the main game, mostly ones from India (which seems logical, as they presumably have a similarly high province ID as my ones). I might have to mention that I used the script from http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?697082-TUTORIAL-TOOL-How-to-fill-a-custom-map (which worked great overall).

Now, I've checked my landed_titles files, I've checked history/provinces, history/titles, I've checked definition.csv....Everything is alright, the names are exactly the ones I want them to be, but the provinces in-game still have the wrong names.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? I'm clueless atm :/

Also, I'm sorry if someone already asked about this, I looked for a solution everywhere but didn't find one, so...yeah :D
And just for reference...this is how it looks right now http://i.imgur.com/WCbWXoQ.jpg

It's almost certainly a localisation issue; have you made localisations for the province names past 1100? JonStrykers mapfiller tool does it automatically, but if you add provinces manually later, you also have to add the localisations manually.

Edit: Or else you might have to find the localisation file for India provinces in the main game folder, it might be overwriting the province names in your mod somehow if it is in a separate .csv file there. To fix it you'd have to make a blank .csv file with the same name and put it in your own mod/localisation folder.

Oh yeah, that.

I've came across this issue myself. I guess I really should put out v10 of the map filler tool asap.
It all depends upon the order the localisation files are loaded up. You see the map filler tool puts all the province names in the _Province names.csv file. Vanilla on the other hand has the province names scattered among all the localisation files. For some reason now the new Indian province names that came with 2.1 are picked by the engine and the ones from the map filler tool are ignored.
Try to rename the created csv files so that they start with "Z_" instead of "_". Maybe if they are the very last ones to be loaded it works. It would be nice if the devs had just put all the province names in one single csv file that we could easily replace in a mod.

Something that would definitely fix the issue would be to copy that csv file that holds the Indian province names over to the mod folder and remove all the province names from it. But that really should be last way if everything else doesn't do the trick. It is generally a bad idea to have unchanged vanilla localisations in a mod but maybe it is really necessary :/

Did you try the [GetDebugInfo] from my snippet? Unless it's changed (it has been a year or more) that is the charinfo string, which is then expanded in code instead of in localization. (Oddly, this means that people who set their language to something other than English will still get English headers in charinfo...)

Apparently it's changed then, because [GetDebugInfo] doesn't display anything.

I've tried renaming, that didn' work....But the second idea (copying India.csv over and delete everything in it) worked. Of course, as you said, it's more of a workaround, I'll have to look for a better approach...but it does the trick for now, so I can continue working on the mod ;)

Thanks a lot, both of you :D

I wouldn't delete *everything*. Only the province names. Otherwise you'd end up with empty events, decisions, ...

On localization (and everything else, really), the first read file trumps later read files. Since files are ordered in ASCII order for reading, and _ is 0x5f, _Provinces would be read before any file starting with a lower case letter (like text1.csv) but after any file starting with an upper case letter or numeral (like RoI.csv)

What is your suggestion then? I've probably used the underscore originally to achieve exactly that. Still, India.csv seems to be preferred by the the engine :/

0_Provinces.csv should be loaded before anything Paradox puts in localization. I think 0 is the first valid character (in ASCII order) that can be used in a filename. Shaytana set up a system in Lux Invicta where 000_this_better_be_loaded_first.csv was used for any tags you really didn't want to be overridden, and zzz_make_sure_this_is_loaded_last.csv was used as a catchall for tags you didn't care if they would be overridden, but wanted to be sure were read in somewhere.

I want event or decision when king (or his vassals) completely control duchy (for example d_pest) so that duchy will become de jure of that kingdom. I know how to do it for certain kingdoms (for example if Bohemia or Bulgaria or Bavaria etc), but I don't know how to write it for any king title. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

I have a question about special troop types... I made some clerics, and when I click on them in an army, they indeed say clerics - I added the localisation line:

clerics;Clerics;;;;;;;;;;;;;x

However when I click on a temple holding which gives these troops, it simply says NONE +10.

Am I missing something? :confused:

I believe the problem is that India.csv (and a few others) starts with a capital letter. CK2 uses an simple ASCII lexicographical sort, and '_' comes before all the lowercase letters, but after all the uppercase. If you want your file to come before any file that starts with a letter or digit, try starting the file name with one of ' !#$%&()+-'. Similarly, to appear after any digit or letter, use one of '{|}~'. Some of those may be invalid in Windows file names, but they all work on Mac OSX.

Or, as richv said, multiple '0's or 'z's accomplishes the same.

Is it possible to destroy and deactivate the titles of landless religion heads through events?

Code:
# End of Schisms
character_event = {
	id = CEV.2002
	title = EVTNAMECEV.2002
	desc =*EVTDESCCEV.2002

	trigger = {
		OR = {
			AND = {
				has_landed_title = k_papacy
				NOT = {
					any_province = { religion = catholic }
					demesne_size = 1
				}
			}
			AND = {
				has_landed_title = d_miaphysite
				NOT = {
					any_province = { religion = miaphysite }
					demesne_size = 1
				}
			}
		}
	}

	mean_time_to_happen = {
		months = 1
	}

	option = {
		name = EVTOPTACEV.2002
		prestige = -1000
		if = {
			limit = { has_landed_title = k_papacy }
			k_papacy = { destroy_landed_title = THIS }
			activate_title = { title = k_papacy status = no }
		}
		if = {
			limit = { has_landed_title = d_miaphysite }
			d_miaphysite = { destroy_landed_title = THIS }
			activate_title = { title = d_miaphysite status = no }
		}
	}
}

I want to deactivate titles when their religions don't have any provinces and their head has no holdings. Will this crash the game? If not, are these the right conditions to do what I'm attempting here? Thanks in advance.

Well, one problem is that *many* events that simply affect the game rather than any specific person are set to fire for the pope, as it is assumed there will always be a pope. Even if you succeed in deactivating the papacy without crashing, much of the game would quit working. Not just Christian events, but Mongol, Pagan, and probably others.

Speaking of heads of religions, can multiple head-of-religion titles exist for the same religion? I don't mean anti-popes or heresies, but two separate titles that both control a religion. One cannot be formed while the other is active, and vice versa, to prevent any confusion.

Yeah I'd think so, I believe you type "controls_religion =" in the title, not the controller inside the religion file. So you could have multiple titles. Just try it out. Not sure how it would work UI-wise, but if they are destroyable and like you said, only one can exist at a time, I don't see how it's much different than the caliphate.

Few questions:

1.What is vassal_decision?
2.How to make decision trigger an event that targets a random prisoner?
3.Why are there no guides for decision modding ANYWHERE?
