Don't know a decent way to do it, but a roundabout method would be to give the current ruler some sort of flag. When the ruler dies, an event would then fire for the next ruler that removes the title and this event would be triggered by a ruler not having the flag. If that makes any sense.

Yeah thought of that but I'm trying to avoid even that. I was wondering what you can do with succession law, such as make a custom succession law, I haven't messed around with it at all yet.

Have an on_death event destroy the title. It'll be inherited but instantly destroyed. The heir will never see the event, but he might get the inheritance alert.
That's probably the best way to do it.

You can't make custom succession laws, they're all hard-coded.

I tried to make the HRE a titular title and replace it's Du Jure with the empire of Germania, but it crashes during launch....
(I used swmh)
I placed this in the file titular_titles.txt:

I tried to make the HRE a titular title and replace it's Du Jure with the empire of Germania, but it crashes during launch....
Landed titles has bad parsing, and doesn't like it when you check on a title which wasn't defined before.

Rename titular_titles.txt to 0_titular_titles.txt so it loads before landed_titles.txt, that way you can check on e_hre in e_germania.

And of course make sure your files are closed correctly, and you have a flag for e_germania.

It did work now (beside the fact that I put 0_ before titular_titles.txt I als resised the e-germania flag...)
but while testing I came across another problem: while I sad your title shouldn't be HRE to create it states that you must have it...

Do Dutch, Frisian, Bohemian and Pommeranian fall into the central_germanic group? Because as written, you must be both in the central_germanic group, and one of those cultures. I think you want to move the culture_group line into the OR. Also, this:

Minor titles can only go to direct vassals (courtiers in your court and the landholders right under you IIRC). So you'd have to be the pope's vassal for this to work.

You could make a trait or character modifier (maybe even a triggered modifier) for this to work.

I've had trouble pinpointing specific titles or provinces for effects. Province decisions (as in EU3) would be a huge help, Paradox. :mad:

I think that the /map/continent.txt file does serve a purpose for this sort of thing. I have tried it in the past and it seemed to work fine. Anyone know for sure?

Continent works, but it requires you to setup all provinces in "continents" beforehand.

Well it can be done a la magnate lords, but the trouble with that is a modifier can only be made for one province every game, predefined by the province ID. What I'd like to see is a way that a modifier-triggering event has a chance of firing anywhere within a certain area. Continents might be an option actually; make a "baltic" continent and what not.

Yes, as jordarkelf said in reply to my question, continents do work (thanks for the confirmation :)). You could set up a Baltic 'continent' then have a province event fire like:

I am guessing, to make a ML type event for a Baltic province with forested terrain. (I haven't tried terrain as a trigger condition myself yet, but it does appear in /events/battle_events.txt.)

yes in my experience continents and terrain work as they should.

I have defined my own continent for where an event can fire related to storms - so i only have it for in places where it is known to rain, not around jerusalem etc.
