will any_courtier = { prisoner = yes } still work when I'm trying to select a prisoner who isn't my courtier?

Answered my own question: yes, prisoners are courtiers of their host. New question, though: there are 925 provinces, but how many baronies are there in the game?

Thanks! Another question. I found this formula: Retinue Cap = Total Realm Manpower x (Average Realm Military Organization Tech x 0.1). Is this hardcoded and still true? And does total realm manpower mean all existing manpower all manpower that is avaible due to laws...

The formula is correct. The moddable part is the modifier 0.1, which is defined in defines.lua as RETINUE_RATIO_PER_TECH = 0.1.

Additionally, you can add a constant term to the formula using RETINUE_RATIO_BASE. I think it is added inside the parentheses, i.e. in practice defines the retinue ratio of the lowest tech level. There's also MIN_RETINUE, which I suppose gives a minimum for the retinue cap, regardless of tech, manpower etc.

I count 929 land provinces :D
There are over 7000 baronies. Just about every province has at 8 scripted, and the new republics have five each.

Yup. Not = no means yes.
is_female = no is slightly faster than NOT = { is_female = yes } but this is not really noticable.
only_men = yes or only_women = yes on top of the event (outside the trigger) is even faster but of course this only works if ROOT's sex is being checked.

especially since >5 patrician families was a bug of 1.090, probably corrected in 1.091.

I'm trying to make my republics have 20+ patricians.
Let me know how this experiment turns out. I have a feeling that once a house dies out, it won't be replaced. That's if it doesn't crash to begin with.
