How am I able to get more dynasty names for a culture? Right now all I have is smiths, soandso-ids, and of _____ surnames.

Also, is there a faster way/program available for changing txt files? I don't enjoy having to personally go through each file just to change the culture of the provinces.

How do you increase the 'max lovers' a number of mods, GoT and warhammer, have in the religion info, can take up to 3 wives/concubines......can take up to 7 lovers. I can't find anything in their religion file other than max_consorts being set to 7.

The limitation is generally set in the events where lovers are gained - like the "a courtier initiates romance with the liege" event chain in birth_events.txt (you'll see a NOT = { num_of_lovers = 5 } entry). It's not hard-coded anywhere.

Can anyone tell me why the following code will not work? It is supposed to remove the province modifier adoptionist_center_modifier from any province where it exists. It is used from the immediate block of a character event triggered for the Papacy. I know it fires; it just doesn't remove the modifiers.

Code:
any_province = {
limit = {
has_province_modifier = adoptionist_center_modifier
}
remove_province_modifier = adoptionist_center_modifier
}

Is it not working because it is only looking at provinces owned by the pope? If so, how do I scope to ANY province in the game?
Try that :
Code:
any_independant_ruler = {
    any_realm_province = {
        limit = {
            has_province_modifier = adoptionist_center_modifier
        }
        remove_province_modifier = adoptionist_center_modifier
    }
}

However, it will most likely put a hard time on your computer, since it has to go check every independant guy and all its provinces, so if you can know some things about the people who are supposed to get the modifier, put it in the any_independant_ruler tab, like

Code:
any_independant_ruler = {
    limit = {
            religion_group = christian
    }
}

Hey there,

I'm trying to mod a government type that boosts retinues and nerfs levies. I have the retinue boost sorted, and I have nerfed my levies, but is there a way to nerf all of my vassals levies that I am not seeing? I don't want to use "max_liege_levy" because the wiki says that overrides crown laws.

In addition to @LeSingeAffame 's advice, I would also like to point out that you can call remove_province_modifier on a province even if it doesn't have the province. Obviously doing so on a lot of provinces (like, say, all of them) will be very performance intensive, but so will checking all of those provinces to see if they have the modifier. So, limit them to the smallest possible number of provinces that could have the modifier (say, only catholic rulers) and then don't bother limiting by modifier.

The guy actually put the source code up on github and said "Have at it" for anyone who wanted to update it. Personally, I can't code for crap and I did offer money to anyone who could but nothing came of it.

Link to the repo? Nevermind, I found it. @Romulien is actively working on it (today even!)

You can try to use these modifiers
Code:
castle_vassal_min_levy = 0.1
castle_vassal_max_levy = -0.7

Is it possible to stop Catholic bishops/popes from having beards?

Yes, look into /interface/portrait_properties, for p4 beard
Index 0 in the beard sprites is "no beard", so you'd need to add a modifier with factor = 100 for catholic religion and is_theocracy or is_priest

How does one make it so that your Court Chaplin has a new action?

In essence i want to make it so that Pagan Court Chaplins get the action to perform divination which would function sort of like the Muslim action of giving charity, with an obvious pagan re flavoring of course.

So that DID successfully make all catholic clergy at the game start cleanshaven, but within a few decades their successors were back to having beards. Is there any way to make a character shave their beard when they become a bishop?

Would there be a way to add an epitaph to characters? Something like the skull giving a hint to the characters death.

Like just throw up a little tomb icon on the character portrait and when they die you can write in a line for it.

Can I alter a religion such that only women can be priests?

No, there's no male_temple_holders religion configuration in the .exe, so you'd have to replace men by women via a maintenance event after they pop of open elective succession.

Is it possible to disable the creation of anti-popes before a certain date?

No, it hardcoded via can_have_antipopes in religion.

So that DID successfully make all catholic clergy at the game start cleanshaven, but within a few decades their successors were back to having beards. Is there any way to make a character shave their beard when they become a bishop?

Gne ? That's weird...

Would there be a way to add an epitaph to characters? Something like the skull giving a hint to the characters death.

Like just throw up a little tomb icon on the character portrait and when they die you can write in a line for it.

Sadly that's not possible, no new behavior can be added to the interface.

What is the option to allow a decision if you have a province of a different faith say owning Slavic provinces as a norse ruler?

Look at event 55002 in \events\culture_conversion_events.txt, you just need to adapt religion <-> culture.
Code:
religion = norse_pagan
any_demesne_province = {
    religion = slavic_pagan
    any_province_holding = {
      NOT = { holding_type = nomad }
    }
}
