A number of questions regarding modding:

a) Recommended mods? I've been having a look around and there seem to be plenty...

b) In particular ones that make 'humongous empire'-building a lot harder.

c) Or anything that makes gameplay dynamics more complex (as opposed to just slapping on a few random events)? For instance, playing muslims or having women inherit do not seem to add anything to the game (mind you, I understand the frustration some may feel at always playing WASP(C) characters).

d) Do they in general work together? Any known working combos? e.g. x's events and y's graphics and z's etc.?

Thankful for any suggestions :)

Good events mods are

SMACK

Gigau's Mod

BOPACK

You can use these three at the same time

For graphics mods, just check the Graphics mods subforum, there are many mods, it is hard to recommomend one that you will like

But check at least

Gratianus' Mods

All graphics mods are compatable with other mods and with the offical game

Thanks, Veldmaarschalk. Since they're event mods I take it that it poses no problem to add them and continue games in progress?

Shouldn't be a problem at all

EDIT
I just remembered Gigau has modified certain traits, meaning that his mod might not be compatible with the other mods
