I'm tempted to change "Spiritual - Materialist" to "Tradition - Innovation" since I think it makes more sense. Not sure what governments you'd organize around that though. Seems pretty clear to me that in Stellaris Spiritual represents religion.

The thing about Spiritual is that I do not know what exectly it gives. I'm sure materialist gives bonus production/income, what about spiritual? I guess influence/happiness.

Even though it's not 100% true, I actually agree somewhat with the current divide. It's somewhat better if you consider it Idealist - Materialist.

A decent summary I found:
Materialism claims that the world in knowable. Through science we have been able to acquire a lot of knowledge, and science will ever progress. Materialism rejects the idea of absolute knowledge. Science can improve our knowledge, but can not find the ultimate or absolute truth. Knowledge progresses through relative knowledge, that create a gradual improving and more 'realistic' picture of the outside, objective, material world. The way we gain more knowledge is by doing experiments, verify theories, explore the material world, etc. The building of theories follows the experiment and observation. We cannot have prior knowledge about the world, before exploring it, and no scientific theory can be claimed to be true, if it can not be stated on experiment and/or observation.

Idealism claims that we cannot know about the world. According to idealism the world is based on a fundamental principle or Absolute Idea. The way in which idealism progresses in order to gain knowledge, is to theoretize, debate and discuss ideas, which reflect on the fundamental principle of nature or the Absolute Idea.

Thus, the Spiritualist ethos is idealist in that it posits that nature is fundamentally the product of the divine. It's natural that your society would behave in differing fashions if the consensus is either in favor of a Materialist or Spiritualist worldview, so I feel that it would be okay to leave the core idea ias it is.

The thing about Spiritual is that I do not know what exectly it gives. I'm sure materialist gives bonus production/income, what about spiritual? I guess influence/happiness.

I think I've heard leadership experience? Need to double check though. It would probably make sense to revamp it anyways.

I strongly disagree with the sentiment that Spiritualist - Materialist reflects a metaphysical dichotomy. Mainly because metaphysics has literally zero implications on government or population. Keep in mind Ethics represent POPs.

I think you're getting that from a post I made. I was just speculating. Right now, we've had no hints about what Spiritual - Materialist does. I suggested they might be something like +30% Leader Experience -10% Technology Progress, +30% Technology Progress -10% Leader Experience.
