Yes looks good. For your future map extension, do you plan having the map covering the whole France from the pyreenes to the Alps as limits?
Seriously looking forward to it, don't suppose you have an ETA for next update? Is it safe to start a new game?
Boss, do you have any goals woven into the mod yet? Besides either side winning, any other interesting goals we can look forward to?
I'm not sure on the dangerous succession route, it should be dangerous for some kings, but for others it should not. CK2 vastly over-eggs the new ruler effect, people didn't get angry at a new king, many were actually pretty happy. In fact, as far as English history goes, you should actually get a new ruler bonus and an old ruler malus.
If you look at Henry VI, he was a minor, spent years as a largely ineffectual king, lost the war in France, essentially buggered the economy, and Richard of York was unable to gather the support to unseat him from rule. In the beginning, when armed conflict broke out, it was more between the Yorkists and the Beauforts over who should be Lord Protector. Look at the battle of Northampton in 1460, the Yorkists smash the Lancastrians, then bend the knee to the defeated Henry VI. The throne should be pretty solid once you're actually on there. Richard III managed to get on the throne by avoiding crowning his nephew Edward V, and presenting parliament with evidence of Edward IV's previous betrothal rendering the two princes illegitimate. It took a lot to dethrone a king in England, if you had a good king, he was pretty unassailable.
In my latest test game, I noticed the problem created by vanilla's system of everyone gets given claims to the crown and everyone supports them. Edward IV's death created a whirlwind of civil wars when everyone with a claim cashed in, and the new king could do nothing because he was so unpopular, this resulted in a sort of 'Third century crisis' scenario where the throne just swapped between a set of cousins over the next five years until settling down. When that king died it happened again.
And, speaking of claims, should the Beauforts get one? IIRC John of Gaunt agreed that if his children (Beauforts) by Katherine Swinford were legitimised, they would have absolutely no claim to the throne. I'd recommend taking their claim off, and giving them the pia fidelis trait, as they were famously pro-Lancastrian.
Finally, I'm not sure if you've caught this already, but the Catherine of Valois mother of Henry VI, and the Tudor Catherine of Valois should be the same character, there are currently two.
Don't get me wrong, I love this mod, it is turning into everything I hoped CK2 would be. I just want to make sure it turns out perfect![]()
In the Descisions to create countys and duchys Sussex and Clarence are left out will they be added in?
Is it possible if you could find a way to hide the decisions to create titles, they kind of bloat up the decision interface.
I have an idea. Maybe you should saparate the church vassals to 3 tires : abbots will rule barony level church holdings, bisops should rule count level and archibishops duke level holdings. I think it would be more historical.
Hopefully, we get to actually rule the realm as king. One shortcoming in vanilla is that you're always thinking of expanding as ruling seems lacking.
