i know youre probably tired of people asking, but is a release today still possible
?
I have the families in England done, not going to worry about Scotland pretty much at all right now. At the moment I am working on the holdings, I have about 100 unique castles in England with the proper (hopefully) holdings done, which means I have a lot left to do (I think there is between 350-400 total in England ). A release today is still possible at this point, but Scotland WILL be ugly. It will be tonight if I get it done, if not then 100% tomorrow. I have it taking me, at a calculated estimate, of about 10 more hours of straight work on the holdings.
Since everything, to my understanding, is scaled down (barons = counts), what are the holders of b_ titles called?
Right now every castle/manor is counted as a barony. Let me explain why. As I research the castles and their components (walls/tower/etc) I am recording their historical owners. As part of the next release I will be allocating the holdings accordingly. So we won't see the typical structure of ck2 in terms of everything falling into their de jure borders nicely. Earls and Dukes owned land scattered throughout the country. Ultimately there will be multiple nobility owning land in the same province.
Right, so, for example, a 'barony' under Dunmow would be something like Stansted Mountfitchet- though that could be in one of the surrounding 'counties'.
Or am I misunderstanding?
you dont waste time typing here. Go back to work
you may also take a look and maybe get some ideas from TPTT mod.
Peerage of England system:
The peerage of england system is present only if the ruler of england is of norman or english culture. It basically adds many titular titles corresponding to those of the peerage, except from barons, which are impossible to render in the game engine. So the heir to the throne will be prince of wales, the male firstborn will be duke of cornwall, the male second born will be duke of york, and the thirdborn will be duke of bedford. Then you got other titles that you can assign to vassals or family members, like the duchy of clarence and gloucester for junior sons of the monarch, the duchy of norfolk and earldom arundel (jointly assigned, making the premier earl), the duchies of aumale, exeter, surrey and lancaster, assigned to a local landholder, together with the earldoms of buckingham and warwick, assigned with the same criteria, and the earldom of the marches which can be assigned to bordering lords on either the scottish marshes or the welsh ones. The whole system works via events.
Fealty system:
Every vassal is required to swear fealty to his liege. This will happen either at the confirmation ceremony, or at a later stage if you couldn't attend the ceremony. If you refuse to swear fealty, your liege can choose either to ignore it, but you will still be his vassal with great penalties for him and a relations hit, or to declare war on you and possibly imprison you/strip you of your titles. Note that if you somehow end up being at war with someone you swore fealty to, that will give you the oathbreaker trait and lots of other negative consequences. So be careful to keep your oaths, medieval society frowned upon those who did not!

But I am still going to release a version today. It is just going to be alpha in its purest form while I continue to work on the holdings.
The royal peerages are already in game, done by minor titles ( You still get REAL titles and land).
I actually had the fealty system updated because I was planning on using it. But, ultimately after testing it I didn't like the way it worked on this map. I have my own plans for a similar system. It just really didn't work well with so many provinces in play and would have needed a lot of extra tweaking.
On another note, I vastly underestimated how many unique holdings I had made, so I didn't get them all done for England. But I am still going to release a version today. It is just going to be alpha in its purest form while I continue to work on the holdings.
You're awesome!I hope to have it up in an hour or so. This is not a version I would try to play out a game. This is more of a "exploratory" build to get some feedback on the basic stuff. Lots of things are partially implemented, so while it won't crash, it wont really be playable either.
You're awesome!
