So, as they say, that's all folks. I hope you all have fun playing HIP and I look foward to write more crazy and flavorfull events for you to enjoy in a few months time. Thank you for your support :)

Have fun with the new kid and best of luck! (My latest nephew just rounded the 10 month old mark and is already walking, occasionally running in a terrifyingly unsteady manner, climbing on things, and causing lots of trouble.)

Hi cybrxkhan,

sry, seems I`m unable to get face fix working. I answer "no" when installing HIP and there are indeed no .gfx files to delete. I install "cultures" folder from the fix, previously deleting the old one. It still does not work at all from the launcher. Launching 1066 scenario through STEAM I get my rulers face but not his lieges.
Other scenarios do not work at all.
THX for your attn.

Have you taken out the seduce women ambition?
I have not seen it in my entire game.

(Trying to seduce my concubine)

The plot is still there. However note that it does have some requirements, particularly traits (all inherited from the original AO 2.0 implementation of it). I dunno if you can understand code (in mod/Historical Immersion Project/common/objectives/ao_plots.txt), but here's the relevant sections of the code (some of it should be self-explanatory):

Code:
	# Plotter scope
	potential = {
		prisoner = no
		age = 16
		NOT = { age = 55 }
		is_female = no
		has_lover = no
		NOT = { trait = incapable }

		NOT = { trait = clubfooted }
		NOT = { trait = hunchback }
		NOT = { trait = harelip }
		NOT = { trait = ugly }
		NOT = { trait = lisp }
		NOT = { trait = inbred }
		NOT = { trait = dwarf }
		NOT = { trait = homosexual }
		NOT = { trait = chaste }
		NOT = { trait = celibate }
		NOT = { trait = eunuch }
		OR = {
			NOT = { health_traits = 1 }
			trait = lunatic
			trait = possessed
		}
		NOT = { health_traits = 2 }

	}

	# Target allow trigger for when players target a specific character in the GUI
	player_allow = {
		is_female = yes
		age = 16
		NOT = { age = 45 }
		NOT = { trait = celibate }
		NOT = { trait = homosexual }
		NOT = { is_close_relative = FROM }
		NOT = { spouse = { character = FROM } }
		has_lover = no
		FROM = {
			NOT = { has_opinion_modifier = { who = ROOT modifier = love_scorned } }
		}
	}

	# Target character scope
	allow = {
		# Some basic rules regardless of target
		NOT = { is_close_relative = FROM }
		NOT = { spouse = { character = FROM } }
		age = 16
		NOT = { age = 45 }
		NOT = { trait = celibate }

Hinduism. I... haven't actually played RoI without HIP. :p Is it the same Vegetarian trait from pre-RoI VIET that you expanded to the other Dharmic religions?

EDIT: Particularly funny: the same ruler going Vegetarian four times because of this, and each time musing on how easy it was. Perhaps he was a vegetarian in a past life? Well, in a way...

It is the same vegetarian trait, yes. I believe what may be causing the issues is that my old code accounted for VIET's version of the dharmic religions rather than PI's dharmic religions, so basically the engine thinks you don't have an appropriate reliigon for the trait and removes it.

A quick question for Dr. VIET : Does the Hajita "mood" in each county is intended to evolved ?
Thx.

I'm not sure what you mean - do you mean whether it changes? If so yes ideally it's supposed to change now and then, though you can do a few things to encourage it to change for the better (or stay the same).

How do you form the Turkish Empire? I have Turkish events turned on and I control Constantinople already but it isn't firing for me.

Conquering Constantinople is an important requirement to have the necessary event trigger, but not the only one:

Code:
	trigger = {
		has_global_flag = VIET_immersion_on
		NOT = { has_global_flag = VIET_turkish_features_off }
		culture = turkish
		religion_group = muslim
		independent = yes
		prisoner = no
		war = no
		NOT = { has_global_flag = fall_of_constantinople }
		OR = {
			has_landed_title = c_byzantion
			any_realm_lord = {
				has_landed_title = c_byzantion
			}
		}
	}

Basically, you have to be Turkish, Muslim, independent, not a prisoner, not at war, and not have the event happen already. It may take a little while for the event to trigger once you meet the requirements.

What I mean is that you don't need to follow the instructions in the portrait fix text file, I don't know why that's still in there, you should ignore it - the installer ideally takes care of the portrait fix for you if you tell it to. Do note however that the current installer isn't doing the portrait fix correctly, however, though a simple way to temporarily fix it (while you wait for the upcoming hotfix, which will fix this), is to delete these files in HIP's interface folder:

interface/portrait_sprites_DLC.gfx
interface/portraits_mediterranean.gfx
interface/portraits_norse.gfx
interface/portraits_persian.gfx
interface/portraits_saxon.gfx
interface/portraits_turkish.gfx
interface/portraits_ugric.gfx
interface/portraits_westernslavic.gfx

Hi everyone,

If you've been following VIET since before the HIP days, you probably know that since roughly November-December of last year I've been mantaining VIET in the wake of cybrxkhan's unforseen absence (with the help of the great Jordarkelf, it bears repeating) and generally making sure the mod doesn't fall to the wayside and the community stays active. It wasn't always an easy task for busy-person-me but overall I like to think we managed the weather that particular storm rather well, even the hectic first days of the HIP project. Still, VIET is nothing without Cybr and I know all of you are as happy as I am to finally see him posting regularly after several months with barely any contact. While his health is not fully recovered, he has adapted well to my personal school of "if you can't sit on the computer and do it, code it in the iPad" and as his health continues to improve he is able to use his computer in increasingly longer periods of time. As such, over the last month I've gradually passed my VIET responsibilities to Cybr and in return we decided to keep me in the VIET development team and change from a 1-man project to a 2 people bandwagon. In this format I've had large ammounts of fun working in Cybr on a handful of updates, the biggest of which is the most recent Briton update, which I hope you are all enjoying, and which leads us to now, where we've largelly settled on what we hope to be the definitive working dynamic of the VIET team, and with Cybr taking over all of his responsibilities, which leads me to state the obvious: The regency has run its course and it's finally time to say Cybrxkhan is fully back in his chair. As it turns out, this came not a moment too soon for me...

As some of you might have heard me say in this very thread, my wife and I are currently expecting our first child and her pregnancy is now in what we can call the home stretch. It won't be long before I get started with my adventures on e journey of parenthood and ever since cybr's health allowed him to break is radio silence with me, I've said in no ambiguous terms that I'd like to take a break from most of my extra-work activities for a couple of months after my child is born, which includes modding, in order to spend more time enjoying this new and exciting time of my life without having to worry about HIP release candidate schedules, CTD's, Blank Events Of Doom and PDS patch changes. As such, we had initially planned for at least one more, possibly 2 VIET updates before I went on hiatus, likely running until right around the time my wife goes into labor. While this was indeed the plan, during the later stages of developing the briton update, and now as we're getting started on the Fraticelli/Sogdian one, I've largely seen both my avaliable time to mod severely dwindle due to final preparations for the newest member of my family, as well as a preference in spending more of my free time with my wife and being a good husband. As such, rather than stress myself and force VIET to deal with an increasingly slow (and more rushed) work turnout, yesterday I told cybr and the HIP team that I'll be taking my paternity leave from VIET abit earlier than expected, starting immediately. I would be lying if I said there isn't abit of sadness attached to this decision as I do enjoy working on all things VIET, but family always comes first and this is the right thing to do.

Overall, I don't expect things to change much. Cybr is a diligent fellow and I'm sure he'll live up to the standards he's gotten us used to so the VIET train will keep rolling regardless. While I won't get into that here, we do have contingency plans in the event that *knock on wood* cybr's health takes a turn for the worse during my hiatus so you can say we have our bases well covered up. I also won't be anywhere near as unreachable as cybr during the worst
art of his illness and I'll still keep contact with both him and the rest of the VIET tram through our communication channels (as well as this forum).

So, as they say, that's all folks. I hope you all have fun playing HIP and I look foward to write more crazy and flavorfull events for you to enjoy in a few months time. Thank you for your support :)

Hi, I am also having a portrait problem, but I'm not sure if it's the same problem other people are having. I do not own any DLCs or portrait packets (Just the core game).
I used the latest HIP installer and put no on that I do not have any DLC portraits and deleted the files you asked in the HIP interface folder. My checksum becomes VLQH.

Only the people in the Byzantine Empire and a few surrounding it, and the people in Spain and Portugal have duplicated partial faces coming out of their portraits as shown in my screenshots.

There are some Western Europeon portraits mixed in with the others.

My friend installed HIP with VIET immersion,but in the installer they didn't give him portarit fix. Is that ok?

There is a question in the installer which says something like "Do you own all the portrait DLCs?" and if you don't answer yes, the installer will automatically install the portrait fix for you. However do note the current portrait fix is a little bugged and your friend will have to delete the files I mentioned in my post above (#6885).

I've been able to reproduce your issues and I'll look into them. The funny-looking Western portraits may be related to a vanilla portrait bug, but I think I can take care of it.

EDIT: I've been able to fix the weird looking Mediterranean folks. Download this file and copy it into "mod/Historical Immersion Project/interface". Note that you may have noticed a similarly named file that I told users to delete in my post above since the portrait fix isn't working entirely - the file below is NOT the same, it is different code-wise, and for all intents and purposes should fix the issue with the duplicated partial faces (it did at least for me when I was testing without the portrait DLCs).

This will, of course, hopefully be taken care of in the upcoming hotfix (we're shooting for a Saturday release) so you won't have to deal with it after this time.

I'm not really sure what causes this, but recently i have been having periodic CTD's from a game i started in the 867 bookmark (crashes every year after 892)
Also, I found these in the error.log
[id.cpp:83]: Failed to create id 2200211 41. Already exists in game.
[id.cpp:83]: Failed to create id 2200011 41. Already exists in game.
The id's seem to correspond to some celtic related event, though i'm not completely sure

I am pretty sure you can only play one of those mods at a time, since they're both overhauls that change a lot of files I don't think they'd be compatible, and compatible versions would require a lot of time and effort.

Hi,

I`m not sure I understand you. Cyber recommends VIET with Elder Kings so I`d like to know if VIET works with AGOT.
I know that I can play only one mod at a time but do you mean that due to file changes I can only install either Elder Kings or AGOT?
As of now I have HIP and AGOT installed and have not seen any problems.

Aah, so you're asking if you can install and play these mods separately? If so the answer is yes, just install whatever mod you want, there's a limit I think, but you'll reach it only if you install hundreds of mods (that's how it works for games like Skyrim anyways).

Thank you for your support :)

well thank you and good luck

I've always used VIET and a number of other mods just fine in 2.0.4, however since I've updated to 2.1.3 and began to use HIP for it the game has been running extremely slow and crashing a lot. Is this a 2.1.3 issue, or an issue with the latest HIP, or is it just my computer not being able to handle the bigger map and extra characters? There hasn't really been any pattern to anything, just random CTDs in the middle of the game, broken savegames, occasional temporary titles not being destroyed correctly (though I noticed that in Vanilla too), etc. which I NEVER had when running 2.0.4, even when running the "64-bit only" Elder Kings on my 32-bit laptop.

cyber, is there a way to manually tailor our Immersion so that the mod uses whatever portrait DLCs we may have?

In theory, yes. You'd have to know exactly which portrait DLCs you do have and you don't have, and which of the new portrait sets uses which assets from which portrait DLCs, and remove files and change code (particularly in the cultures file) to account for the portrait sets which have assets from portrait sets you don't have. Given that each portrait set can potentially use up to 4-5 different portrait DLCs, and each culture group may have 2 or 3 or even 4 different portrait sets, this can make for some rather tedious complicated-ness. Generally I suggest not bothering with it unless if you're only missing one or two portrait DLCs, in such a case it's a bit easier to keep track of things since you only have to worry about essentially removing references to those one or two DLCs.

The Celtic event is likely not causing the CTDs, but your periodic CTDs is likely the same as a CTD issue that has been affecting PB+VIET builds in the current version. We believe this will be fixed with the upcoming hotfix (hopefully).

Vanilla has had quite some instability post-RoI, though it appears some HIP combinations have had some issues with the recent vanilla patches as well. The random CTDs are likely a HIP issue (see my response to the poster above), though I wouldn't rule out vanilla; broken savegames appear to be most likely a vanilla thing; and the temporary titles not being destroyed correctly I really don't know.
