HIP is the mod you downloaded, which VIET is a part of now. I'll double check if the customization decision still links to the wrong event. As for the music packs, last time I checked they were working fine and it's not like they require any updating. I'd go through the instructions again. Also note that some music packs only have a decent chance of being heard iif your character is of the culture targeted by it.

Oops I'm dumb, I didn't realize the music mod had separate installation, I was just loading the .mod file. I'm a bit confused about the difference between HIP and VIET. In nothing that I read was any reference made to anything called HIP. It's not really important I guess.

The wiki says that the traits can be used without the core viet, so is that out of date or is something wrong, when I try to play with just the trait it shows crossed-swords that disappears when I start the game.

Hey OrdepNM, I finished my West African Pagan game of CK2 (which was me hitting Observe mode from 1267 to 1447 cause I got tired of being peaceful and dealing with constant successions due to Seniority :p) and I did one last export for it. (the AI kinda fractured my empire but I kinda like how it keeps North Africa and the Iberian Union from blobbing everything)

I noticed the same issue of the Ottomans appearing out of nowhere in Byzantium (being proper Sunni religion this time) and the VIET-specific events not firing. However what else I noticed is that every area that is of West African Pagan religion is Western technology, not Eastern, Ottoman, or Muslim. I do not know why as none of the areas own both Tunis and Timbuktu, however my religion does spread across all of the De Jure Mali, Africa, and Spanish Empires back in CK2 VIET (including Santiago) so that might have done something.

It's quite odd regardless, though again, not at all game-ruining as EU4 runs fine. If you wish I can send you my save for the game if you'd like. :)

Now I just need to learn how to play EU4 before I give my game a try...

EDIT: Oh, right forgot. I'm using the Events, Traits, and Immersion modules of VIET 1.5.1.1 with the VIET -> EU4 Exporter 1.1.2. Also using Legacy of Rome and Old Gods DLC, along with the Exporter DLC of course. The game did start from a VIET 1.5.1 save which I had to update to 1.5.1.1, if that is important for anything. :)

Cores and Defines have been integrated into Immersion since a few version ago. So, that is the entire mod. ;)

Someone who now owns the mod might want to put this in the "readme first" file. It specifically refers to Core and Defines. I looked back several pages here, suspecting the truth--but other folks might just get damn confused. ;)

Thanks for the info. I'm still not working on the converter tough, VIET and RL's been keeping me busy.

I own nothing, but thanks for the tip, I'll have it fixed when I get home, tough with the HIP installer most of it is probably irrelevant now.

*sigh* No Cybr to micro-manage everything. Our regents seem a bit busy too...

Because I didnt get a post in in this page? Guy can't catch a break. Most of e readmes for the customization readmes were apparently untouched since conception, given how some referred to modules that have since long stopped existing :p

Anyway, seems Norse-Briton is winning by a vote. I'm fine with that, tough we probably should later on decide on a name for SWMH since they don't do modern-english naming.

Yeah I imagine having to work on VIET would be a very busy thing. Would there be a way I can somehow figure out how the VIET converter works myself, like to see what might be the problem and such? I have this theory that Byzantium loses half of it's area to the Ottomans might partly be because the game is using vanilla provinces to fill in areas left out or not understood by my exported map, like as if something went wrong during the exporting of Byzantine.

Just a theory though. I'm sure every modder would know better than me :p

Hi! Last time I played Viet, I got a issue where I could only holy-war against people of my culture and of a different religion, is that a bug? and if it was, has it been fixed? I could holy war once against a norse pagan, but then after that it wouldn't let me holy war against anyone who wasn't my culture and a pagan...

And the holy war cooldown did go down, it seems alittle overboard if you have to wait for that cooldown, need certain traits, AND can only holy-war once against a pagan not of your culture...

PS: When the trait restriction eventually gets a customization patch, can we also get (For balance sake, for sure) to go with it, a patch that makes destruction of armies not give instant victory? because I tried removing them myself and that made the mod utterly unbalanced LOL!

New patch is up for HIP, which includes the latest version of VIET :) Here is the changelog:

VIET 1.5.1.3:

  • Easter egg characters for the 6000th post added
  • New culture: Norse-Briton, serves as a welsh/cumbrian counterpart to Norse-Gael
  • The exilarch will now destroy the "wrong" exilarchy is he gets both titles
  • A new exilarch may arrise under the right circumstances
  • Fixed the bug keeping zoroastrian rulers from having a feast
  • New localized names for saxon and welsh tanists
  • Minor bug fixes
  • Minor localization fixes

@TheStormweaver: Your easter egg characters are in cholet, a barony in Anjou. Check it out and lemme know if you want to have anything changed.

Barring any major issues, this should be the last update for VIET of mine that actually deals with mechanics. As I've made vey clear, I intend to focus on the converter abit more as I want to have it running with full HIP by the time full HIP becomes possible. I do have some plans for next week's update, but they'll be very flavourful in nature, which I believe people generally like :)

I could holy war once against a norse pagan, but then after that it wouldn't let me holy war against anyone who wasn't my culture and a pagan...

Don't recall it ever working like that, it was probably a bug thats fixed.

And the holy war cooldown did go down, it seems alittle overboard if you have to wait for that cooldown, need certain traits, AND can only holy-war once against a pagan not of your culture...

The cooldown still exists (it really helps in preventing holy war spamming) but there's a customization option that removes it.

PS: When the trait restriction eventually gets a customization patch, can we also get (For balance sake, for sure) to go with it, a patch that makes destruction of armies not give instant victory? because I tried removing them myself and that made the mod utterly unbalanced LOL!

Ask cybr when he comes back.

Hooray for the newest update! Once VIET Immersion becomes compatible with HIP, I think I may do another CK2 game with all HIP modules. Should be quite a treat provided my computer doesn't get bogged down. Has anyone found HIP to be resource draining compared to vanilla CK2?

I guess it always depends on the computer. SWMH is supposed to be a bit more taxing on your machine than the vanilla map, but if you can play that you should be fine (personally I never noticed any issues). I never heard of VIET and/or PB causing any noticeable slowdowns so pilling them on top of SWMH shouldn't cause any noticeable difference, but at the end there's only one way for you to know how your computer handles it.

I am having the no faces problem, I thought the fix was included in the most recent version of HIP? Should I try the old fix here?

Also I know there's the CK2+ compatible version that is being worked on, but I have heard now from various sources that there's already a compatible version of the events and traits?
