That's.... really darn weird. I'll check the pertinent files when I get home tough I really bloody doubt somehow tengrii got changed for suomenusko, that's not something you do by accident  Just so we're clear, you're saying the mongol characters appear as finnic? What about the unlanded mongol characters?

I have checked the Golden Horde's vassals and courtiers. Oddly there are some unlanded courtiers who are Tengri (including the Kahn's wife of all things) as well as the Turkish Sunni they took from the Seijuks, but the vassals and even some unlanded courtiers (along with the Kahn's children) are indeed Finnic religion. I also checked the Ilkahnate and they have no Finnic characters of their own, it's either Tengri or Sunni.

So... yeah, I dunno what's going on. Not that I'm complaining, but having the Mongols go to war with each other instantly is a bit unbalanced I'd say :p

Urgh, this is the only bug I havent been able to track down. In the whole mongol events there isnt a single mention of the finnic religion in the code. Did you see if the initially spawned army was already finnic or if it was something that happened later? Maybe you have an autosave from before they showed up?

Also what's your combination of mods?

It's be great if someone who made it to the mongol invasions could share its experience.

I actually do have a save, and I figured out why this was happening.

The Kahn of the Golden Horde does start as Tengri, however what he does each time I load is go after Cumania first, which is Finnic religion. After taking it, he ends up converting to Finnic religion... for some reason; I have no idea why that works as Finnic is NOT reformed.

This is with VIET 1.5.1.1 Traits, Events, and Immersion modules with Legacy of Rome and The Old Gods activated.

1. Balance changes, it's been like that forever and it's doubtful it's going away. Basically it slows down blobbing, warring etc, makes the game more realistic and less random. I don't think there's a customization option to take it out.

2. Have you dloaded HIP recently? That was a problem in the friday release but it should have been finished on that same evening.

3. That's WAD (working as desired). New, non historical characters always have a long id number rather than the smaller numbers of historical characters. Even vanilla behaves this way. I never had a problem using the console commands on non historical characters tough, but that's definitely not the mod's doing.

I don't know what HIP is. I downloaded VIET on Saturday and I don't have any other mods installed. Turns out the character ID thing was just that it adds 1000 to the start of every character ID and I misread it as 10000 XP Also I'm not entirely sure but I don't think the music modules are working. I haven't heard any new music so far and skipping through with nextsong command only plays vanilla songs.

Hmm. I'll look at the religious conversion tough I doubt I'll find anything malfunctioning. Might be just a crazy sequence of events. I mean Cumania is Finnic, I'd say thats halfway there.

Since when was Cumania Finnic?

Start early enough in the game and enough crazy can happen by 1200 :p

HIP is the mod you downloaded, which VIET is a part of now. I'll double check if the customization decision still links to the wrong event. As for the music packs, last time I checked they were working fine and it's not like they require any updating. I'd go through the instructions again. Also note that some music packs only have a decent chance of being heard iif your character is of the culture targeted by it.

Speaking of the music modules, are all those packages of music from the old VIET music links included in HIP? I don't see the dozens and dozens of tracks anywhere.

So then they do have to be installed outside of HIP.

Yes, it'd be counterproductive to have them on HIP for several reasons. It'd force everyone to answer over 20 questions just to get the music in their game, it'd make the HIP download skyrock in size and it'd make it harder for people who just want the packs (they can be used in just about any mod, or even vanilla).

Don't forget that it's not that difficult to make your own custom music pack as well. Converting music to .ogg and copy/pasting lines into a .txt file is not that complicated.

So I have the VIET_music.mod file in my mod folder. I've also downloaded all of the various music packs. So now I have a subfolder of mod called VIET_music and a subfolder of that called music. Inside of music I have all kinds of ogg and txt files. This is correct? These will now be part of the game as long as I select the VIET_music mod when I start the game? Will my official DLC music still play, as well? I'm not sure I understand how it all works. I don't have to combine all references to music into one file, do I?

Yup, you seem good to go. Vanilla music will still play yes.

Btw there is a customization in the file I posted one page ago that makes vanilla music more likely to play, in case you're interested.

Right everyone, assuming no surprises, tomorrow we should have a new release of HIP. In VIET-land, one of the new changes will be the requested/proposed Norse-Briton culture which will serve as a counterpart to the Norse-Gaels and target welsh and cumbrian cultures. With that said, one thing I'm still not 100% on is the culture's name. While there's nothing wrong with norse briton, we did have a few suggestions, namely:

//Edit3: some Welsh names I found for Vikings, if you/cybr decide on a new melting pot culture for the Welsh and Corns:
Finn Gaill (apparently meaning Norwegians)
Nordmani (North men)
Lochlannaigh (men from 'Lochlann' = central Ireland, but meaning raider)
Llychlynwys (Variant of above)

Just about all other names specifically refer to either Denmark, or the Gaels from Ireland and Northumbria; or are variants on "black host" and "heathen" so aren't so useful.

Or simply Norse-Briton? Lloegyrwys could be an idea as well, though it means something else.

So I'd like to ask any and everyone to say which name they prefer, or make a compelling argument for one over the other. As I said, update goes live tomorrow, so we do have to be fast :)

Norse-Briton sounds more appealing if you ask me. It's easier to understand and makes sense within the vanilla names.

Now SWMH uses the more historical names for it's mod (and for HIP) right? I've only seen screenshots but for the sake of HIP I feel that a different name other than Norse-Briton would fit better for the culture and SWMH's naming conventions, in which case Nordmani fits better I'd say. But I guess that depends on whether this melting pot event will be used in HIP or not. :)
