Yeah, but is it a way to get it to work in the German version?
At the least the VIET strings in the localization files should be copied across to the German language column (and I'd suggest the others as well), then they'd get it in English.
A proper German translation requires someone to be willing to spend the time to translate everything.

As an Orthodox Greek ruler of Byzantium I've been seeing Armenian Tengri courtiers with the Shaman trait pop up a lot; it seemed to have started when Armenia Minor had a Tengri ruler, or that might just be symptomatic.

Also, the titulature of City-rulers seems to be off. While my barony-level cities are called 'poleis' (or 'polis', doesn't matter it's accurate) their owners are called 'eparchs'. Something similar seems to be the case with a few other City-rulers.

Just throwing it out there in case anyone's compiling a list.

With PB+Viet, the Seljuks, for whatever reason, have 30K maximum soldiers at pretty much all times (even up to as far as 1120!) while the second highest military power usually lagging way behind with like 9K. Is this intended, because this does not seem to happen in any of the later (post 1066) starts, and things are getting pretty boring when every war they take part in they win. Any Help?

It's the leftovers from their event troops they get since they're an invading horde according to the game. Thankfully they're nerfed compared to the mongols. The only way they lose these events troops is by battle so the more they fight their neighbors the faster the event troops slowly get worn down. If you happen to be a neighbor, gods save you. :p

Probably decisions\VIET_Pagan_decisions.txt invite_shaman_to_court, for finnic or tengri pagan rulers.
This calls shaman.34 in events\VIET_Shaman_Events.txt which spawns a shaman, and with no culture defined in the spawn events this new_char can have the culture in the capital of FROM (decision maker).

I guess GothicE is seeing these characters pop back to their spawn province once their home was destroyed, and he recently conquered some lands previously held by Tengri invaders.

Byzantine stuff. Let me help! I love the ERE, even if I lack the knowledge...

Quickly googled "Eparch" and was led to Wikipedia. Apparently Eparchs were provincial governors, or the like, not rulers of a city. Apparently they were also a rank in the Greek Orthodox church.

Though there was an "Eparch of Constantinople" apparently. So perhaps that is where the term was derived. And there were probably "Eparchs" who like the one in Constantinople ruled over a city-province or something.

Best, I can tell, Ordep, it would seem to me that "Eparch" is probably a "best-fit" title, over-generalizing one particular use pf a title. I don't know about a Greek title for Mayor, but apparently the Romanoi used "Praetor" (or rather the Hellenized version of that word) for Mayor.

A few days ago, once AGAIN I saw Venice annexed by Byzantium which brought me to thinking... could grand cities like Venice, Genoa, Pisa, etc. get something like Revolt events which would increase their chances to reform in case their new Overlord gets weakened? Historically, holding these cities was no simple thing.

In previous versions of VIET I've found that if I was of Altaic culture (but not Tengri) I would still get Tengri shamans spawning all the time too. Perhaps the decision is bugged? I would have shamans spawn on their own all the time as a Jewish Khazar in France. :p

Btw people, I just noticed that Meneth has updated PB (yes I know Im some 2 days late, but since I dont actually play PB, I have an unhealthy habit of not checking the thread as often as I should) and introduced the whole new faction mechanics thing he had been working on, as well as other things. Considering I was pretty close to wrap up the next version of VIET, that's a big facepalm right there lol. Anyway, that's certain to make development drag on somewhat more. Gosh I miss cybr...

Been away for a few days or I might have commented sooner... (can we all be late?) the only change I had to make to play with the Factions beta version in December was to modify the VIET "on_actions" file to include "meneth.211 Factions" in the Yearly pulse. Been playing with the full up PB3.4 today with the same modification and it fired the Faction meeting just fine. It appears to be stuck on my old saves - but works for new games. So hopefully that makes it an easy fix for you in the compatibility file.

I've tested the Socotra thing in-game and it does not convert over the CK2 Socotra province's older to EU4. At least not with the version of the converter I have (1.1.2). I've changed the entry in the province table in my version (it originally had c_busaso listed) and it works now, so it's an easy fix.

Gotta say I'm a little jealous you know how the province table works. I can't wrap my head all around it :p

Speaking of which, OrdepNM have you had any time to look at my CK2 save I sent you just now? It's alright if you haven't; I'm working on my game still and will see if continuing through the years of a CK2 game changes anything. However I am curious to why some events aren't firing and why the Ottomans come out of nowhere. :)

So if I'm reading this right, eparch is kinda sorta right? Unless people are really into it, I'd be wary of using praetor since that title is so commonly associated with the roman era, but hey, I'll hear more opinions on this.

Porbably something for when cybr comes back, I'm wary of touching the balance given how hard he worked on it.

In previous versions of VIET I've found that if I was of Altaic culture (but not Tengri) I would still get Tengri shamans spawning all the time too. Perhaps the decision is bugged? I would have shamans spawn on their own all the time as a Jewish Khazar in France. :p

I'll take a look at the decision and see what's going on.

Yeah, it's not that monstrous an update as I initially assumed when I wrote that, I just haven't had any time to work on it.

I've tested the Socotra thing in-game and it does not convert over the CK2 Socotra province's older to EU4. At least not with the version of the converter I have (1.1.2). I've changed the entry in the province table in my version (it originally had c_busaso listed) and it works now, so it's an easy fix.

That's... bizzare. I even remember posting screenshots of socotra properly converted in the preview. Something awfully wrong happened there for sure, I wonder if for whatever reason the PB+VIET files somehow made its way to the VIET version  Anyway, I'll take a look at it whenever I go back to the converter.

Believe me I want to, since the converter is my baby and it frurstates me more than anyone if things aren't working properly, but right now I have my hands full with VIET and besides modding my schedule has been awfully busy. This past few days my wife had health complications related to her pregnancy and taking care of her has been a second job so modding simply had to take a backseat. Anyway, I haven't forgot about it, I've just been way too busy to deal with it.

That it appears. However it is more associated with the ERE than other states. So it might not be as "appropriate" as it is for "Byzantines". But most Greeks are Byzantine.

Though it would be Praitor, and not praetor, but I still agree.

The new EUIV patch does some wonky things to symbols due to the new tech groups and religion, but it's nothing too terrible it seems.

Yup, it'll definitely wonk up the converter religions icons table unless they changed the way they do things. It's an easy fix tough.

Obviously PDS is forgetting that changes to one game affect the converter on the other.
