I dunno why I never thought of having Celtic Christianity as a heresy... I like that idea now, though granted it has its own issues it's the simplest way to handle it in my opinion. Guess that's another feature for a Celtic-themed update (though I'll probably add the heresy before then).

Just stumbled upon a page while searching something different that might be of interest http://www.cushnieent.force9.co.uk/CelticEra/Nature/nature_menu.htm.

The synod held at Kells or shortly after at Cashel was the final turning point for the irish-celtic church as far as i remember, but it's probably somewhere in this page anyway.
It was quite catholic after the Synod at Whitby (664) already as i understand, but meh... i don't really know much about that anymore.

Maybe it shouldn't be a heresy outright, but become one after an optional refusal to become a subordinate of the roman church.

Will the volcano events be limited to provinces with actual volcanoes, or is there a chance that the event could trigger on somewhere nonsensical, like Middlesex, for example.

I agree that having it as a heresy per se isn't entirely accurate, but I think its the simplest way to do it to be honest. I mean I already have things like Mongolian Nestorianism as a heresy of Nestorianism (though that isn't as far-fetched as it sounds, the Mongol practice of Christianity was very different and distinct) so this wouldn't be the worse. Also if I do awake Celtic Christianity it's own branch I'd have to find at least two to three semi-plausible heresies for it to be fair.

The natural disasters will tend to happen where they are most likely to happen, but for the most part they can happen anywhere, so volcanoes are more likely in, say, southern Italy, Iceland, and parts of east Africa where there's a number of them, but it could always happen in, say, Poland, though rarely. A few though will be limited to obvious regions, such as blizzards or sandstorms, if I do manage to add them in.

Hmm... I dunno if that event is causing the issue (I already have that fixed in my local copy), but maybe. Try deleting "mod/VIET Immersion/VIET_Chinese_Flavor.txt" and seeing if that works, I forgot to disable some of the Chinese flavor events I've been working on so that *could* be the issue.

Man, I don't know what is responsible but for the last ten games, my Zoro King (867 start) just can't sire a son. Even with a wife and three concubines he keeps having tons of daughters and almost 80% of them die as well. Had 5 games where I lost simply because he isn't able to keep a heir alive (other than his sister). Just wow....
Has the chance of death during childbirth and toddler ages increased that much or is the RNG-god just hating on me..

Maybe have it as a branch of Christianity, but give the AI Pope the decision to make it a heresy of Catholicism after a certain date, with a high enough Religious Authority and maybe certain traits. So, if Catholicism gets the shaft Celtic Christianity stays the way it is, but otherwise (most likely the majority of cases) it ends up as a heresy with most of the Celtic Christians turning into regular Catholics (with maybe a few events to help them consider the errors of their ways).

In regards to heresies, there was some conflict about the dating of Easter, by a group called the Quartodecimans. It might seem like a minor issue, but it was a very contentious issue, and there have been schisms over less. In the fifth century Pelagianism, the doctrine wherein there was no original sin and good and evil was a matter of choice (a radical works only, not faith position) originated and was spread throughout the British Isles. These folks also rejected baptism. Neo-Pelagianism would be a distinctly Celtic heresy.

Those obscure religions...

It isn't so much about religions being obscure, rather than having descriptions that read like "There totally existed a group of dudes called the harranians, and they probably did some sort of stuff." Thats not very flesh-able Im afraid. Now, the najdetians or whatever, plus the crazier dudes, while they're probably just as obscure, you gave me an article that outright tells me all I need to know: they went around killing people doing terrorism and being douches, done and done :sleep:

Btw my previous post was joke-y that anything, celtic christianity is easy, all I need to do is mix typical christian traits with the ones I did for the Ancient Religions mod. But now that the 50-mark is behind us, I have to start wondering if the converter will ever reach 75 religions :confused:

Looks like in PB-VIET-Immersion, there are two ambitions each for "Seek Fame and Glory" (prestige = 1000) and "Become Known for Virtue" (piety = 1000). Both have the exact same conditions and rewards.
Not sure but the other levels (500, 1500 etc.) are probably also repeated twice.

Looks like in PB-VIET-Immersion, there are two ambitions each for "Seek Fame and Glory" (prestige = 1000) and "Become Known for Virtue" (piety = 1000). Both have the exact same conditions and rewards.
Not sure but the other levels (500, 1500 etc.) are probably also repeated twice.


This just cropped up for me as well.

Man, I don't know what is responsible but for the last ten games, my Zoro King (867 start) just can't sire a son. Even with a wife and three concubines he keeps having tons of daughters and almost 80% of them die as well. Had 5 games where I lost simply because he isn't able to keep a heir alive (other than his sister). Just wow....
Has the chance of death during childbirth and toddler ages increased that much or is the RNG-god just hating on me..

I blame the RNG. :p I have slightly increased the chances of complications in childbirth, but it should still *usually* be much more merciful than what it was with VIET's old childbirth mortality system.

Maybe have it as a branch of Christianity, but give the AI Pope the decision to make it a heresy of Catholicism after a certain date, with a high enough Religious Authority and maybe certain traits. So, if Catholicism gets the shaft Celtic Christianity stays the way it is, but otherwise (most likely the majority of cases) it ends up as a heresy with most of the Celtic Christians turning into regular Catholics (with maybe a few events to help them consider the errors of their ways).

In regards to heresies, there was some conflict about the dating of Easter, by a group called the Quartodecimans. It might seem like a minor issue, but it was a very contentious issue, and there have been schisms over less. In the fifth century Pelagianism, the doctrine wherein there was no original sin and good and evil was a matter of choice (a radical works only, not faith position) originated and was spread throughout the British Isles. These folks also rejected baptism. Neo-Pelagianism would be a distinctly Celtic heresy.

I think Celtic Christianity could be represented as a set of decisions/features available to characters who are christian and celtic cultured.

Right now I'm doing a bit of reading on Celtic Christianity and it appears making it a heresy seems to be the best way to fit in the known historical situation, but I'll read more and ponder it over some bit.

It isn't so much about religions being obscure, rather than having descriptions that read like "There totally existed a group of dudes called the harranians, and they probably did some sort of stuff." Thats not very flesh-able Im afraid. Now, the najdetians or whatever, plus the crazier dudes, while they're probably just as obscure, you gave me an article that outright tells me all I need to know: they went around killing people doing terrorism and being douches, done and done :sleep:

Btw my previous post was joke-y that anything, celtic christianity is easy, all I need to do is mix typical christian traits with the ones I did for the Ancient Religions mod. But now that the 50-mark is behind us, I have to start wondering if the converter will ever reach 75 religions :confused:

The customising conversion option doesn't seem to work. All I get is the option to make Carpathia into Pannonia. I'm using PB+VIET, all the dlcs etc.

When can we expect to see the updated EU4 converter for VIET? Not to stress but yeah. :D

By the way: Oman, at least in PB+VIET is not ibadi after the first old gods timedate. The capital province is ibadi but rest is sunni, and rulers are all sunni too. I can't say for sure though since I just briefly checked on "latin empire" start and then checked Oman ruler history in game. Adding to this, I am having a hard time seeing why Alexios Kommenos startdate is one year after latin empire, since Trezibond was an "empire" already in 1204.

Too many Hanukkah dinners, too little time at home modding. If I could mod with my phone it'd probably be here already.

Anyway Im hoping for weekend at the latest, maybe a bit earlier. I know its taking its sweet time but look at the bright side, there's only one holidays season a year.

Oh, cybrxkhan, I am reminded... I've been trying to improve how I make the red heresy version of religious icons, as they've been turning out too bright and pink compared to vanilla CK2 versions. So at some point I'm going to submit an updated set of religious icon files with slight improvements on that front. And for future reference, do you happen to have a preference between the more saturated heresy icons (like Zoroastrian or Orthodox) or the more washed out versions (like the vanilla Jewish)?

Thanks again for your work. Anyhow I really have no preference, to be honest, I'm fine either way. Hmm. Well, if I had to go with one than maybe the more saturated icons because they pop out more, but again I really have no preference.
