New update up. Probably one of the more bugfix-heavy updates in a while. Many thanks to everyone who helped find bugs/issues and fix them. For PB+VIET users, I've removed the Traits module since Traits has already been integrated into PB for a while, so you won't need it.

Key features of VIET 1.5.1:

  • 6 bug-related flavor events (bugs as in insects - punny, don’t you think?)
  • Random Medieval 4 Music pack
  • Holy Order decisions and flavor for VIET’s Holy Orders
  • Bugfixes
  • And more!

Vanilla and PB VIET (and their portrait fix versions) are tested and seem stable. Although I believe this update covers a lot of the bugs and issues reported for 1.5.0, there may still be quite a number lurking out there, due to the many changes introduced by SoA and vanilla patch 2.0, so feel free to report on any suspicious activity.

- VIET’s holy orders now appear dynamically, like vanilla’s holy orders (it is currently not possible to expel or donate to them, however)

- Added fictional playable Yazidi leaders from the 1066 start onwards in the counties of Mosul and Sinjar

- Flanders is the de jure liege of the county of Brugge at the 867 start
- Normandy is called Neustria at the 867 start, but will be renamed to Neustria if ruled by Normans via events
- Hungary is called Pannonia at the 867 start, but will be renamed to Hungary if the Magyars settle there
- Most CB Trait restrictions concerning not have the slothful, content, etc. traits are ignored if the attacker has other trait prerequisites (vanilla VIET only)
- Magyars can now form the Kingdom of Taurica (if their invasion of the Bulgarian Empire fails)
- Kingdom of Taurica is Etelköz if ruled by a Hungarian
- Gave the Aghlabids a few ships in the 867 start
- Tweaked the Defenders of Light (Manichean Holy Order) to have more cavalry
- Reintroduced the Young Age modifier but reduced the health malus of the Sickly trait to compensate
- Slightly increased chance of childbirth complications
- Ashkenazi now use occtaniangfx

Bugfixes and optimization
- Integrated Superskierpat’s fixes to heresy titles
- Removed Zhayedan decisions, which could cause CTDs since the Zhayedan orders don’t exist anymore
- Removed PB version of VIET Traits, since it’s been integrated into PB
- Tweaked Nerge description to account for non-Mongols participating
- Fixed references to Sephardic instead of Sephardi culture in various parts of the code
- Fixed Mamluks not having the bektashigfx graphical culture
- Fixed Mandean religious heads getting weird names (i.e. 'Semsoun_Samson')
- Fixed Pagan Livonia having the wrong flag
- Fixed missing culture requirement prerequisites for the Kingdoms of Wallachia, Bulgaria, Kiev, and the Empire of Bulgaria
- Fixed Beograd/Belgrad and Meath/Tara localization
- Fixed “No VIET Assets” popup event so it won’t appear even if VIET Assets is installed
- Fixed Israelite cultures not having access to VIET’s Jewish retinues and unique buildings
- Fixed several titles using succ_elective instead of succ_feudal_elective
- Fixed Pregnancy generic flavor events not firing
- Fixed CTDs if selecting a start date past 1066
- Fixed missing localization for Go Traveling ambition
- Fixed Go Traveling ambition not accounting for Christian pilgrimages
- Fixed Change Conversion rate customization option triggering the Carpathia name customization option incorrectly
- Fixed some Latinokratia localization errors
- Fixed missing localization for the Ibadi Holy Order and Swahili Fleet
- Fixed missing localization for some of the Shiite theology events
- Fixed Asian Champions retinue being available to various non-Asian cultures
- Fixed the leader of the Republic of Oran being unselectable in main menu
- Fixed Amalfi and Hamburg patricians not owning any cities

Upcoming Plans

Hopefully with 1.5.1 I cleared out many of the major bugs and issues VIET got with the update to SoA/vanilla patch 2.0. There may still be a number, however, so please feel free to provide any bug reports or feedback as always.

I will probably have one (or even two, or three) smaller updates, but since most of the main hurdle of updating to SoA/2.0 appears to be over for now, it’s time for me to blast ahead full speed towards the Khitan/Chinese update. Those of you who have modding knowledge may even notice a little bit of codework I’ve started for the Chinese-themed update. Anyhow, I’m quite excited for this, even though it won’t be as substantial as I hoped.

I've removed it since it's technically been integrated into Pb for a while now, so you don't need it.

Just wondering if you have plans for a Islam expansion cybrx, I would love to see how you can integrate Sufism into the game, Islamic mysticism anyone :D.

Nothing specifically targeting Islam per se, though some of the other updates will probably touch on them indirectly (the Iranian and Muslim Republic themed updates for instance). I will try to see though whether I can add in a few flavor events here and there, some substantial (I have an Ibn Battuta-inspired event chain being planned, for instance).


Cool. Is that also what happened to the Core module?

The Core modules was integrated into the Immersion module since the former wasn't really doing much anyways, and most of its stuff was already in Immersion or moved into Immersion.

Would it be possible to create some simple event chains that touch on Norse river trade flavor wise, sort of like how republics can loose ships and thus gold via event/event chains "haven't play republics often so I haven't seen much of the content they have"

Yes, he's planning to do a general Iranian update after the Slavic one, which comes after the Chinese/Kitan update.

The install instructions talk about going into a customization folder if you don't have all of the faces. Well, I don't have that folder (in the latest release), nor do I have all of the face packs, so all of the Mediterranean people have black boxes. Has this been changed and there's another thing I'm supposed to do, or do I really have to buy the potato head pack?

E: I went ahead and bought the Mediterranean face pack anyway. It was the only DLC I didn't have. I'll just live with it.
