Is this version of VIET not compatible with the beta branch of PB? I have a consistent crash somewhere around 1084 or so, regardless of if I start from the Old Gods or a later start.

I'm running the slimmed down PB+SWMH-compatible version of VIET.

EDIT: Looks like I answered my own question. Running an observer game from the Alexiad start (which crashed earlier) and I'm now at 1090s without any hitch. Since VIET is about to update, will it work with the stable or beta PB? The holy war CB in the former is sadly broken.

Do you have any plans to change the proselytizing? Someone was talking about conversion taking too long a couple pages ago, I wholeheartedly agree. It's severely limiting to Holy Wars, in my opinion.

VIET seems to not be exactly compatible with umbra sphere unfortunately. Any idea what causes retines to become not hireable when all vanilla viet modules and umbra sphere are active?

Im gonna try to work this out by disabling modules one by one, but Im asking just in case solution is simple )

I'm frankly surprised you even got the full VIET and Umbra Spherae working together, given that the two both change the map and add a whole host of changes that would make the two incompatible. In other words the full VIET suite (particularly Immersion) and Umbra Spherae are incompatible. I do not know whether the other modules are also incompatible though.

VIET generally should be compatible with the beta branch of PB, though I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few odd things here and there given that I only update VIET to official updates of PB and not the beta branches. But it shouldn't be causing CTDs or anything of that sort. It's possible though that since it's been a while since the last official version of VIET was released before the last couple of PB updates there are some incompatibilities, but again I wouldn't imagine anything serious. So far the working version I have of VIET 1.4.1 seems to work fine with the latest official version of PB.

Yeah, I'll be changing that for the PB version since it appears to be extremely slow in the PB version as Meneth has significantly decreased the time to convert.

Well, I haven't had a chance to play a long umbra sphere game yet, but as for now I can say I have only encountered very few issues. First of all, one module, I believe it is core, makes retinues unavaliable (gotta recheck that), ransoming all prisoners via intrigue tab has crashed my game and a single county on sardinia does not belong to any de jure empire. So far so good. I have no doubt, there are some more, but they aren't noticeable at first sight.

In fact, I think I'm going to keep traits, music and intrigue tab additions and call it a day.

I have been planning to do that but I can't figure out a way to adequately create or edit the type of art files needed for those icons with the limited art programs I have.

I believe it should be Immersion that is causing the issue with the retinues, as it has changes and additions to the retinues. Actually, any and most issues you have will be because of Immersion's compatibilities with Umbra Spherae. I am again frankly surprised your game is even that stable, but I haven't tried running full VIET with Umbra Spherae myself, so I wouldn't really know.

I seem to be having a problem with the "Trebizond brought to the Fold" event.

Playing as the Empire of Abyssinia, I managed to inherit the Byzantine Empire (or what's left of it). Now the event is firing every month, telling me that I have conquered all the territory of the Empire of Trezibond.

I do not actually control any of the territory of Trebizond. The Empire and Kingdom titles are not held by anyone, and Rum controls the duchy.

Playing with PB + VIET, no other mods.

Known bug in VIET, it should be fixed in 1.4.1. As a temporary fix for now, however, you can try this fellow's fix located here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...-Tweak-Mod&p=16049837&viewfull=1#post16049837

The converter adds a new culture to EUIV for every culture in VIET or VIET+PB thats not already present in EUIV. No cultures get folded at all. At firstI considered folding some similar cultures like say, Griko and Greek, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that just like the sicilians became a distinct enough culture IRL, nothing bars the grikos from doing the same in an alternative time line, ence I decided to go big or go home and add every single culture.

and yes, of course you can use it. Btw, you might want to make use of the converter's cultures to fix some out-of-CK2's-range mistakes, like the chagatai being mongols or the songhai not being of the songhai culture.
But I'm guessing that stuff like national ideas won't be given to kingdoms with the same names and cultures with the same names won't be considered the same? I'm just looking for clarity on how exactly this differs between the vanilla converter in that regard. (In my own map that I made I had to manually go in and fix many of the flags and national ideas as the converter failed spectacularly in certain areas.)

Yes, of course! Any bugs or issues you believe are caused by VIET can be reported here.
Well, then,I have an bug with an specific event.
I tried reinstalling all of VIET,and Assets specifically.

So,the Event is: 1000109047 The Siege finishing event.
It opens as usual, but I don't get any option to do anything. And as it pauses the game,I only could quit the game to continue.
(If I saved, and resigned/quited,and then reloaded the save again, the popup was gone,so I could continue).
I also tried launching the event again per console, too see if it happens after I reinstalled VIET,and it did.

I use CK on the latest patch (it was 1.111,wasn't it?) with SoI,LoR,ToG, and TR,with all VIET modules, except for music, and no other mods.

Ha, apologies to the guy, I edited my post :)

The overuse of the word "same" makes your question really confusing :p My focus in terms of national ideas will be on giving them to countries/titles that have no counterpart in EUIV either because theyre extint by the start of the game or because theyre VIET or PB additions. So we're talking about stuff like Rum, Israel, Old/First Bulgarian Empire, Latin Empire, Amalfi, plus other landed titles that call for them, say Arabian Empire, Al-Andalus, the Frankish Holy Roman Empire, etc etc. If youre asking about countries already in EUIV that didnt get any NI, I dont think Ill be adding many myself as they dont have NIs for a reason, and looking at the patch notes, it seems paradox will be covering the ones in the fence going foward. Going foward I may integrate some popular EUIV mods per the community's wishes, but let's talk about that when we get there.

As for cultures, there's not much to it. If said VIET culture already exist in the exact same fashion in EUIV (vietnamese, japanese, mandé) then no new culture is created and provinces/rulers of that culture will inherit the EUIV culture, otherwise, the converter will add a new culture to the output. This is true even for borderline similar cultures like grikos and greeks or ryukyuans and japanese. Dunno if thatanswers your question.

Could you give me an example on how the converter failed and the save game where this happened? The converter isnt exactly rocket science, if it "failed", it should be easy to figure out why and add the code to patch it. The nation conversion table will be the main focus of the next update btw, for this one I havent done much in that regard.

ETA for release of 1.4.1 should be tonight or tomorrow morning.

Hmm. Not sure why it's going haywire, but I'll just disable it since no one really liked it and I've been meaning to remove and replace it with something more useful.

This will be the first time I've ever asked this: will it be savegame compatible? I've got a wonderful Catholic Pecheneg game going on at the moment.

Yes, it should be. When it comes to savegame compatibility I use the same system as PB - if the middle number's the same, it should be savegame compatible; i.e. 1.4.1 should be compatible with 1.4.0 and 1.4.1934871948, but not 1.3.7 or 1.3.3 or 1.7.8.

Ah ok I see. So any cultures that are the same will be integrated with the existing culture in EUIV (if available), gotcha. That was my question but I know I phrased it pretty badly haha. :)

Could you give me an example on how the converter failed and the save game where this happened? The converter isnt exactly rocket science, if it "failed", it should be easy to figure out why and add the code to patch it. The nation conversion table will be the main focus of the next update btw, for this one I havent done much in that regard.
By converting failed, I mean that the game will not give the NI's to the kingdom level titles of the same name. Instead it will only give NI's for duchy level titles which means that if you convert the Kingdom of Burgundy as opposed to the Duchy of Burgundy you won't get the Burgundian NI. The converter will also use the duchy level flag instead of the (slightly more awesome looking) kingdom level flag when converting the flag over. In some cases if it matches the converted nation with one that already exists in EUIV it will give the converted country the EUIV flag instead which I don't think makes sense with certain converted nations.

Not sure whether the current version is compatible, but the new version will be updated to the latest version of CK2+.

I always kind of liked that event as a random bit of flavor and assumed that you already had taken it out as I never saw it in my last couple of VIET playthroughs. As I was already looking through Events to see how you had done something else ( :ninja: ) I took a quick look. The game can't figure out the trigger. It's checking to see if the siege_won_leader is the province owner and has 5 prestige, 10 piety and the just trait. Seems strange that would happen suddenly and I cannot figure out what it is about the trigger the game doesn't like.
