No, I meant that if the ruler being attacked by the Orthodox ruler is not Christian, but a county in the duchy being fought for is Orthodox. Basically, you'd be waging a holy war to free the Orthodox Christians suffering under non-Christian rule. If you loose land to an Invasion or something, it could be used to push back, but it couldn't be used for expansion of the realm.

Hmm. I see. It's not a bad idea - granted, it would probably encourage a little bit of ERE blobbing, though not too much - and frankly it could apply for most of the religious groups anyways. Meneth has already added a religious reconquest CB in Project Balance (so it's there in PB+VIET), but I wouldn't be against adding something like that for the vanilla version... but I'll have to think about it

But anyhow, for now, as al3xytp said, there is the customization option.

Quick question regarding PB+VIET and Crusades: If I remember correctly, under the PB version of the Crusade CB Catholics will only declare Crusades on Jerusalem unless they hold Jerusalem, so is having reformed the Kingdom of Israel going to mess that up?

I don't think it will. There is a Catholic crusade weight on the Kingdom of Israel equal to Jerusalem, so they should continue crusading on it as long as needed. In the upcoming version of VIET they will also get the Kingdom of Jerusalem back should they conquer Israel.

Though if you do see any problems don't hesitate to tell me.

You can enable orthodox (and miaphysite) holy war with VIET in game customization. This will allow orthodox rulers to declare war on Muslims.

(yeah, this work, I used it a little while doing an Armenia campaign).

True, but I think he's suggesting Khan add a religious reconquest casus belli like in PB.

Alright folks, here's the current changelog for 1.4.1. Mostly bugfixes, some optimization here and there, and a couple of things I was planning to add for 1.4.0 for the Jews but didn't have a chance to.

ETA is probably in a couple of days, the majority of this is finished.

- Added 7 “Memory” generic flavor events (events having to do with memories about things)
- Added a 7 event Dance of Death flavor event chain (credits to Zaldax)
- Added music module: XXXXX
- Added in event where if a non-Jewish ruler takes over Israel (whether through Crusades/Jihads or other means) it will switch back to the Kingdom of Jerusalem
- Added in vassal mercenary force for the Kingdom of Israel, the “Shield of the Third Temple,” creatable via decision, that will generally contain soldiers from different Jewish cultures
- Added icon for East African religion
- Events spawning Jewish, Indian, and Swahili courtiers now have the option of rejecting them
- Maintenance events forcing Jews to convert or preventing others from converting to Judaism will not fire if the top liege of the realm of the courtiers in question is Jewish
- Added maintenance event that removes Age Customizer traits
- All Asian culture groups now get placeholder buildings and retinue
- Increased the dignity of the Sunni and Shiite Caliphates

Bugfixes, optimization, etc
- Fixed Passover decision not having a cooldown (i.e. before it could be done right after it was just finished)
- Fixed localization for the province of Semien
- Fixed Jewish theocracies not having proper localization
- Cleaned the code for the Latinokratia events, fixing events popping up constantly for the ERE
- Fixed Rum being creatable
- Fixed first and second Vashts of the Zhayedan being active at the start of a game in the PB version
- Fixed in-game customization option to turn off childbirth mortality not working sometimes
- Fixed Jewish religion missing holy sites in the PB version
- Cleaned some of the Tajik and Pashtun “melting pot” events to prevent messy situations in Eastern and Northern Iran
- Fixed Britain in the compatch for PB’s No Ahistorical Empires module
- Fixed missing localization for several cultures

I'd like to point a bug (more of an oversight, i think) in the vanilla version of the mod.

the ransom all decision (and the other prisoner related decisions, in fact) cause the game to crash. I found that the decision is adds a modifier to characters called ransom_timer, that isn't included in the vanilla version of the mod. However, people playing the PB version won't have this problem as PB has the modifier on the folder event modifier.

It's easy to fix, as I just added the pertinent file from PB to the event modifiers. so maybe cybrxkhan could fix that on 1.4.1.

Also, just letting you know, great mod! I've come to regard it as the basic CK2 experience.

Not sure what exactly made this, if it was a vanilla bug or not (haven't seen it in Vanilla before, though) but, there are people with claims on the Empires of the Pirates and Rebels (both that aren't actually seen in-game) and the people with the random claims declare war (as a Host, like "John's Host" and the like) on them. The problem is, since they aren't supposed to be seen except for in the game files, they aren't actually landed, and they aren't a real "title" as you can't bring up any options with them, or view the title. That means, the war goes on indefinetlly, and the problem is, the war makes the one declaring the war (The Host of "Insert Name") hostile towards everyone, which makes the AI march around with their armies raised, as If they were being attacked. So, until the declarer dies, the war goes on forever.

So, any Idea how these people are getting claims on titles not even seen in-game? It's fairly annoying, as the enemy is always ready for me ;P

EDIT: Also, Jewish people can observe Passover multiple times, making it a bit over powered. Now sure if that's WAD.

EDIT2: One last thing I forgot to add was that, when I did a custom character for the Arabian Empire (I was Samaritan heresy, or whatever it's called), when the Religious head for one of the Jewish heresies died, I inherited his title, and got the end screen, as I became a Theocracy. Again, guessing it isn't WAD.

I've seen stuff like that before, actually, but I really have no idea why it happens. Does it happen in vanilla? I can't really imagine why VIET would be causing it, or, if it is, why it would be doing so.

EDIT: Also, Jewish people can observe Passover multiple times, making it a bit over powered. Now sure if that's WAD.

Not WAD, though it was one of the first bugs I noticed after releasing 1.4.0 and I have already fixed it in my current version of 1.4.1. I intended to have Passover available every three years, but it seems like I forgot a little bit of code here and there causing that to happen.

No idea why that's happening, to be honest. Maybe because you're the only other Samaritan person around? I would think that normally theocracies randomly generate successors, so I really don't know why that would have happened.

I don't know if this is a VIET issue or a PB issue, but something is wonky with the Mongol hordes.

I am playing a Jewish game (Semien -> Abyssina) and have restored the Kingdom of Israel. The Mongols have appeared, but many of their horde armies have instantly been assigned to my vassals! There are Jewish doomstacks wandering all over the Far East!

Is it possible to change the Holy War CB somehow so i can use it against pagans as a catholic ruler ?

You can still declare holy war on pagans if you're a Catholic - there are a few restrictions added in VIET but the one most people miss out on is that Christians/Muslims can't declare it on pagans if they still have a pagan province in their realm. If you want to remove that restriction I can point out the parts of the code you have to change.

I dunno how that would even be possible, but do you have a savegame or something where its reproduceable? (Like a save from right before the Mongol hordes show up)

Additionally, are you running any other mods?

Yes, it is reproducible. I've got a pre-invasion and post-invasion save here:

The first few stacks of 15,000 men get assigned to "Ilkhanate", but all the rest to my vassals!

No mods other than PB + VIET(PB)

Thanks, I'll take a look at that and see what I can do.

I don't know if someone else has seen this, but in one of my games the Duchy of Holland was called County of Holland. I was going to check if it was the mod or vanilla, but localizations are beyond me.

As superskierpat suggests it's WAD for VIET and just a change in localization (so Holland is still a Duchy in terms of the game engine, its just localized as a county). If you want to remove it I can point you to the parts of the code you'll have to change, it's a pretty easy one line change.

In VIET Orthodox rulers can't declare Holy War on pagans as long as there is a pagan province in the realm. And PB slows down religious conversion to a crawl. Which means in PB+VIET there is almost no wars between Orthodox and pagans. It may be worthwhile to either ease the restriction or return the conversion rate to non-PB level.

I've seen stuff like that before, actually, but I really have no idea why it happens. Does it happen in vanilla? I can't really imagine why VIET would be causing it, or, if it is, why it would be doing so.

No, I've never had it happen in a vanilla game, only in VIET. Could be you left out something when doing the landed titles?

Not WAD, though it was one of the first bugs I noticed after releasing 1.4.0 and I have already fixed it in my current version of 1.4.1. I intended to have Passover available every three years, but it seems like I forgot a little bit of code here and there causing that to happen.

Ah, okay, that makes sense, happens to me all the time ;P

No idea why that's happening, to be honest. Maybe because you're the only other Samaritan person around? I would think that normally theocracies randomly generate successors, so I really don't know why that would have happened.

Nope, I had all my vassals (that I could) covert and, the guy was the other Jewish heresy, not the one I was (Samaritan). Yes, that's what's supposed to happen (not very realistic though, should be more of a voting between all the bishops everywhere, but that's something paradox needs to fix), a randomly generated religious leader. Again, it could be something left out in either the religions or maybe landed titles. Would check, but I have no time right now.

I dunno how that would even be possible, but do you have a savegame or something where its reproduceable? (Like a save from right before the Mongol hordes show up)

The event may be broken that gives them their troops (as that's how the mongols seem to have an "infinite" amount of troops all the time). I used to cheat when I was first learning the console commands, and I remember using the event that gave the mongols their troops. The thing is, is that for some reason, it randomly gives a part of troops (sometimes) to random people in the world (landed). I don't know why it does it, but some people (sometimes none) get troops if the event accidently happens to someone other than the horde. And the event may have fired for the vassal, for some reason.

Hmm, you're right, increasing the conversion rate might be necessary.

Have you thought about adding a few flavor events for the crusader states? After winning the crusades, ruling the holy lands is kind of dull.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. I'll put it on the to-do list.

No, I've never had it happen in a vanilla game, only in VIET. Could be you left out something when doing the landed titles?

Nothing I could think of that would cause the problem. The code for the rebels and pirates' landed titles are, to my knowledge, exactly as they are in vanilla.

A quick look at the code I have for the new Jewish landed titles shows nothing suspicious, unfortunately.

The event may be broken that gives them their troops (as that's how the mongols seem to have an "infinite" amount of troops all the time). I used to cheat when I was first learning the console commands, and I remember using the event that gave the mongols their troops. Hmm. So basically you're saying it *might* be a weird vanilla bug, then?

The Mongol troops get assigned to many of my vassals, not just one - and it seems to happen consistently.

cybrxkhan, were you able to reproduce it from the save files?
